Saint-Prex brings together a medieval town centre, Roman remains and a range of lakeside experiences. When choosing a hotel, you can first decide what matters most to you: local history, a market date, walks or the different lakeside spots. The places and routes show how varied a stay in Saint-Prex can be.

The medieval town centre and En Marcy

The medieval town centre of Saint-Prex was established in 1234 under the patronage of the Bishopric of Lausanne. At the entrance, the Tour de l'Horloge marks the approach to the Vieux-Bourg; the town centre features various fountains and wrought-iron signs. Guided tours of the medieval town centre are available on request. Confirm availability before your trip.

The Roman villa at En Marcy also adds to the area's historical heritage. It was inhabited from the Protohistoric period—from around 2200 BC to 50 AD—through to the 4th century AD. Excavations uncovered a remarkably well-preserved thermal area. The area's history therefore extends well beyond its medieval foundation.

Market dates and wine tastings

From March to December, the Saint-Prex market takes place in the Vieux-Bourg on the last Sunday of each month. Around 50 stalls are dedicated mainly to craftspeople, winegrowers and food vendors. Crafts and winegrowing are therefore featured alongside food. Check the exact market dates before your trip.

Wine tastings featuring wines from Saint-Prex are available for groups on request. Confirm the booking conditions in advance.

Hikes and walks

The Sentier de la Truite runs along the Boiron through the forest and then through the town centre of Saint-Prex. A walk of around 10 km leads from the lakeside through farmland, the town centre and the forest. Its length and the sequence of landscapes provide practical guidance for planning your route.

A walk in Saint-Prex offers the chance to discover the area's history, local activities and wildlife and plant life in connection with the places you visit. A hike from Morges to Rolle passes the medieval town centre. In the Lake Geneva region, the Way of St James, Via Jacobi, runs between Lausanne and Rolle, among other routes.

Lakeside spots with different features

Plage Place d'Armes lies between the entrance to the town centre and Port de Taillecou, opposite the Vieux-Moulin. Plage du Chauchy, also known as Bain des hommes, has a seven-metre-high diving platform and offers table tennis as well as areas for ball games near the medieval town centre. Beach facilities may change; check what is available before your visit.

The small Plage Bain des Dames is on the south shore of the town centre and is completely sheltered from the Bise wind. A beach in Saint-Prex is known among windsurfers for its favourable location when the Bise is blowing.

Bus connections and moorings

MBC bus route 724 connects Morges, Saint-Prex, Etoy and Allaman and runs twice an hour. Check the timetable before your trip, as schedules may change.

A total of 21 moorings reserved for visitors are available in the harbour and at the Chapuisat and Tato jetties. Confirm availability before your trip.
