You can focus on time outdoors, agricultural produce or architecture.

Countryside and trails around Dompierre

The municipality lies in the heart of the Broye-Vully region, on the heights between Lucens and Henniez and a few kilometres from Romont in the canton of Fribourg. Administratively, Dompierre belongs to the Broye-Vully district in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland. Wide views and green surroundings shape the village’s landscape; the surrounding area is also suitable for hiking and other outdoor activities.

Farzin Rando offers three routes for mountain bikes, e-mountain bikes and gravel bikes. Hikers can take the green route. It is 8.4 kilometres long and suitable for all ability levels. Ninety-five per cent of it follows paved paths or gravel forest tracks; the remaining five per cent runs along an agricultural track, whose surface is partly poorer and has ruts. The green route can be used on foot, as well as by mountain bike, e-mountain bike and gravel bike. Before travelling, check the current programme and verify the route length and surfaces again.

The picnic area by the Refuge de Dompierre VD is on Route No. 6 of the Romont Région hiking map. If you would like to use the area, check the latest information about the facilities and reservation instructions beforehand.

Accommodation and farm life

Ferme Tenthorey offers agritourism accommodation in a fully equipped chalet, as well as a pitch for vans with access to all amenities. You should confirm availability and conditions directly. At Ferme Tenthorey, Alpagaga offers guided walks through nature with several alpacas. After the walk, visitors receive a hot or cold drink and can discover alpaca and farm products in the lounge. Arrangements for the activity and the offerings afterwards may change.

Ferme Tenthorey’s agricultural activities also include processing rapeseed from its own harvest: the farm produces cold-pressed rapeseed oil and packaged rapeseeds. The rapeseed meets IP-Suisse standards and is grown without pesticides. Product availability may vary.

Churches and history

The Temple de Dompierre is distinguished by its orientation and a stone bell tower. Its predecessor church was initially dedicated to Saint Peter; before the 15th century, it was placed under the patronage of Notre-Dame. The present church was built in 1839 on the site of a 12th-century Notre-Dame church. Extension and rebuilding projects gave the Temple de Dompierre its present form.

Another religious history connects Dompierre with the church of the Monastery of the Most Holy and Life-Giving Trinity. The church was consecrated in 2001 by Archbishop Innokenty (Vassiliev), Archbishop of Chersonesus. Together with the history of the Temple, this offers another perspective on the village’s religious buildings and their different historical contexts.
