Those choosing Lavey-Les-Bains for a break will find that thermal water is a defining feature of the area. Les Bains de Lavey has indoor and outdoor pools, while walking and hiking trails begin or end in Lavey-les-Bains. This allows you to decide how much time to spend bathing and exercising, rather than trying to fit every option into a schedule of equal-length activities.

Thermal Water and Wellness

Les Bains de Lavey has two outdoor pools and one indoor pool. They are open year-round and kept at 33 to 36 °C. Check the current access conditions before your visit, as facilities and access may change.

The Espace Wellness at Les Bains de Lavey offers relaxing massages, facial treatments and wellness rituals. These include hot stone massages, lymphatic drainage and LPG Cellu M6 treatments. The availability of these treatments may change; check before booking.

The origin of the water is also part of the area’s history: the thermal water in Lavey comes from rain that fell almost 8,000 years ago. The history of the thermal baths is also linked to a hot water spring discovered in the Rhône riverbed in 1829. Today’s wellness treatments are thus connected to the water’s long history.

A Stroll or a Longer Forest Walk

The Les berges du Rhône promenade runs from Saint-Maurice to Lavey-les-Bains and takes about 40 minutes. The Mystérieuses forêts de Lavey-Morcles circular trail also starts in Lavey-les-Bains, but is a considerably longer outing: it passes through fields and forests, is just under eight kilometres long and is of moderate difficulty. The loop is listed as taking just under three hours.

The forest loop has around 430 metres of elevation gain and loss. The route showcases flowers native to the region; knotted pubescent oaks (Quercus pubescens), large-leaved lime trees (Tilia platyphyllos) and cornelian cherries (Cornus mas) grow along the way. The stated distance, difficulty and duration provide a guide for planning your time; trail conditions may be updated, so it is worth checking the latest route information before setting out.

The times show the difference between the two routes: about 40 minutes for the promenade and just under three hours for the moderately difficult forest loop. If you want to plan a stroll, Les berges du RhĂ´ne is the shorter of the two options described. The forest loop takes longer and passes through a different landscape.
