Ovronnaz is a small holiday and spa resort in the French-speaking part of Valais. It belongs politically to the municipality of Leytron and is located near Martigny. Seasonal contrasts shape the resort when planning a stay: in summer, nature trails and alpine products take centre stage, while in winter there are skiing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Thermal baths, climbing and other activities round out the selection.

Paths among bisses, botany and stories

Le Petit Tour du Bisse starts and ends at the Ovronnaz tourist office. The easy route is 1.8 kilometres long, rated T1 and listed as taking 30 minutes to walk; actual walking time may vary depending on conditions. It leads to the Salentse and follows a 300-metre section of the bisse there. Access to water and trail conditions are seasonal.

On the heights above Ovronnaz, the Mille Fleurs de la Seya botanical trail combines nature themes with a quiz at 20 stations. There are also explanatory signs and a flower guide. The trail installations may be maintained seasonally; check their condition before your visit.

The Sentier des Légendes combines hiking with the discovery of cultural heritage: six signs along the path provide information about regional legends and myths. The trails thus differ in their focus—from a section along a bisse to botanical knowledge and stories from the region.

Alpine cheese and regional cuisine

Alp d’Odonne has a cheese dairy and a refreshment bar; the business operates seasonally. In summer, cheese is made and sold directly there, including Sérac d’Odonne. The annual Inalpe and Désalpe celebrations in Ovronnaz take place in June and September. They include cow fights and musical performances at Alp d’Odonne.

Above Ovronnaz, the Buvette de Loutze serves regional specialities such as fondue, a Valais platter and Brisolée; game dishes are added in autumn. Access also varies by season: in summer, the refreshment bar can be reached by car on a paved road or on foot via a hiking trail. In winter, the ascent is made on foot, on snowshoes or on touring skis.

Winter activities on the slopes and trails

The Ovronnaz ski area lies at an altitude of between 1,400 and 2,500 metres and is accessible by chairlifts or ski lifts. Several cross-country ski trails start at the Tourbillon Nordic Centre and lead through the surrounding forest. Their difficulty levels vary and cater to all abilities; trail availability depends on snow conditions.

The Swiss Snow Kids Village on the upper edge of the village has small slopes for beginners. Visitors can reach the snow garden on foot or by road on a free shuttle bus. There is no need to enter the actual ski area; the shuttle may run seasonally.

The Jorasse snowshoe route connects Ovronnaz and Jorasse through forest and alpine pastures. Along the way, there are views of the village and surrounding mountains.

Thermal baths and seasonal activities

The facilities at Bains d’Ovronnaz include a sauna, whirlpools, a hammam and massage treatments. The offer may change. The thermal water offers views of the Valais Alps.

The tourist office organises weekly activity programmes for summer, autumn and winter. Activities take place at various locations around the resort and are aimed at children and adults; the programmes are revised seasonally. In summer, the Mini zoo de Jorasse at an altitude of 2,000 metres features farm animals. Pony rides are also offered at the summit of Jorasse when the weather is suitable.
