Hofstatt LU is a village in the municipality of Luthern in the canton of Lucerne. A hiking stage, farm visits and a bike loop give the village and its surroundings a variety of attractions. When planning a trip, you can choose between getting active in the Napf region, learning about agriculture and exploring local stories.

Hike from Hofstatt to Luthern Bad

Stage 11, “Around the Canton of Lucerne,” leads from Hofstatt to Luthern Bad. It passes through a hilly mountain landscape, from one hamlet to the next. Along the way, the route passes the Ahorn-Alp viewpoint, then descends to Luthern Bad on forest paths.

This clearly defines the hike as a route between two named places. The changing hamlets, the viewpoint and the descent through the forest shape the landscape along the way. These are specific landmarks for anyone who wants to choose a tour not just by its destination, but also by the landscape sections described along the route.

Explore the Luthertal by bike

The bike loop in the Luthertal takes you over the heights and through the valleys of the Napf region. Along the way, views open out across the Mittelland and towards the Alps. One section follows the Luthern downhill to Hofstatt and on to Under-BrĂĽgglismatt. The loop and the hiking stage offer different perspectives: the former focuses on heights, valleys and views across the wider landscape, while the latter follows a route from Hofstatt to Luthern Bad.

To reach the bike loop, take the train to Zell and then the postbus to Luthern Dorf. This sequence is part of planning the bike tour and differs from the hiking stage, which explicitly starts in Hofstatt.

Agriculture and visitor activities at Arche-Hof Russberg

Arche-Hof Russberg is located in Hofstatt in the Napf region, in quiet surroundings without traffic. Visitor activities include the barefoot Gspöriweg trail, pony rides and a petting zoo. The farm offers several ways to enjoy a visit, from a trail to animal activities and the petting zoo.

The farm’s agricultural profile includes breeding old, endangered livestock breeds, whose products it sells directly. Direct sales include meat, tea, syrup and jam. Arche-Hof also produces milk and grows herbs. It produces silage-free milk for Napf-Chäsi in Luthern. The visitor activities therefore offer specific insights into the farm’s work, without reducing agriculture to individual products.

Herb excursion and legend trail

Naturea offers a two-hour guided herb excursion outdoors in Hofstatt. Registration is required, and groups are limited to a maximum of twelve participants. If you plan to join this excursion, allow for the registration requirement and group size in your preparations.

The Luthertal Legend Trail offers a different perspective on local culture: it depicts seven local legendary events through sculptures. Seven wood sculptors created the sculptures in 2002. The trail thus connects the stories with works of sculpture; the number of legendary events and the year the sculptures were created describe different aspects of the experience.
