The floodplain area of national importance, hiking trails through woodland and traditional older houses show different sides of Heubach. There are also specific hiking and gravel routes, fire pits with different access options, and seasonal leisure activities in the surrounding area.

Hiking Trails and Gravel Route

The municipality of Rüschegg and the Rüschegg Tourism Association maintain around 95 kilometres of hiking trails. The condition of individual trails may vary. Hiking trails from Rüschegg Heubach, Hirschhorn and Gambach, as well as from Riffenmatt, lead through the wild woodlands north of the Egg. These include Längeneywald, Scheidewald and Aegertenwald.

For a hike with a clearly specified distance and duration, consider the Vrenelidorf Guggisberg–Rüschegg hike: it is 10.22 kilometres long, takes 3 hours and 25 minutes, and ends at Rüschegg Heubach, Post. The recommended season is April to October. The route passes the Gambach Waterfalls, outside the village of Heubach, where water cascades over Nagelfluh rock formations.

The gravel loop route 14, “Upper Hilly Landscape,” offers a different course. It follows shaded forest roads through Scheidwald and descends to Rüschegg Heubach. After passing through Heubach, the route climbs up into Längeneywald. The specific routes therefore differ not only in activity, but also in the woodland areas they pass through.

Floodplain Area and Architectural History

Heubach is the location of floodplain area no. 316, which is of national importance. The area includes the waterways Schwarzwasser and Wissenbach. These waterways give the natural landscape around the village a specific point of reference, while the older buildings offer a different perspective.

Older buildings in Heubach feature the so-called small-farmer house type. Some traditional local Tätschdach houses have been preserved. These two architectural features add a cultural and historical dimension to the hiking and woodland landscape, without requiring a particular route.

Fire Pits and How to Reach Them

The Längeneiwald fire pit is available year-round. A 1-kilometre hiking trail leads there from the Rüschegg Heubach, Post, public transport stop. The Habstanne fire pit is on the hiking trail from Rüschegg Heubach to Längeney and is also available year-round. Check local conditions before setting off.

You can reach the Schlatt fire pit from Heubach or Hirschhorn via a forest road with access limited to local traffic; bicycles are permitted. The nearest public transport stop is Rüschegg Heubach, Längenboden, about 2 kilometres away. As road and public transport conditions may change, check them before setting off. Access details therefore differ by fire pit: a hiking trail from a stop is described for Längeneiwald, Habstanne is on a hiking trail, and Schlatt can be reached via a forest road.

Camping, Mini Golf and Outdoor Swimming Pool

Heubach Campground is a nature-oriented family campsite beside a mountain stream. Facilities include a barbecue area, a playhouse and a children’s playground. The campground is about 800 metres on foot from the village centre, which has shops and a restaurant. Confirm the availability of individual services before you arrive.

Restaurant Caroline in Rüschegg Heubach has a 15-hole mini-golf course and a children’s driving track. The mini-golf course’s operating periods may vary by season; operating details for the children’s driving track may also vary.

The Eywald outdoor swimming pool is in the area around Heubach, at 1,050 metres above sea level. During the summer months, it invites visitors to swim, relax and enjoy themselves. Check the latest opening details before visiting.
