In Sjötofta, discoveries range from swimming spots and seasonal blossoms to a draisine ride and stone monuments bearing witness to the area’s history. The draisine route runs between Ambjörnarp and Sjötofta; in Fagerås, you can see more than one million blooming daffodils during the season. These attractions offer different reasons to visit. When planning your stay, the most important considerations are the flowering period, your choice of swimming spot and whether you would like to include a draisine ride.

Swimming at Kvarnsjön and Stomsjön

There is a swimming spot at Kvarnsjön in Sjötofta. Stomsjön lies almost in the centre of Sjötofta, has its own jetty and invites visitors to swim during the warmest months. The two lakes offer different points of reference: at Kvarnsjön, the swimming spot is the main attraction, while at Stomsjön, its almost central location, the jetty and the seasonal invitation to swim go together. If swimming is a priority, you can choose whichever of these details is more relevant to your plans.

Take a draisine ride between two places

The draisine route runs between Ambjörnarp and Sjötofta, and visitors can travel it by draisine. Draisines for this route can be booked online. If a ride suits your stay, make the booking a separate step in your plans.

Daffodil blossoms in Fagerås

The daffodil bloom in Fagerås in Sjötofta is a seasonal reason to visit. During the season, you can see more than one million blooming daffodils there; the flowering period runs from late April to mid-May. Weather conditions may shift the period slightly, and the intensity of the bloom varies from year to year. If the daffodils are the deciding factor for your trip, plan your visit within this window and allow for weather-related changes. Compared with swimming at Stomsjön, which is an option during the warmest months, the daffodils have a more clearly defined season.

Burial ground and local tradition

The Domarringarna of Sjötofta are located near the railway station and form an Iron Age burial site. The burial ground at Sjötofta is believed to date to the 6th century and comprises 16 stone circles and two upright stones. According to local tradition, the stones are a wedding party turned to stone; hence the area is called “Bruden och brudgummen”, meaning “The Bride and the Groom” in English. Archaeological classification and local tradition offer two different ways to approach the area’s history: one places the burial ground in its historical period and describes its forms, while the other explains its name through a story.

A bridge on the old Häradsvägen

The bridge is part of the old Häradsvägen between Tranemo, Ambjörnarp, Sjötofta and Håcksvik. This historic road connection adds another aspect of local history to the burial sites and places Sjötofta along a route linking several places.
