Seglora combines a range of hiking options with lakes and a rich cultural heritage. When planning your visit, you can focus on your preferred trail length, historical sites or outdoor activities. Seglora kyrka and its church village have a history of continuity dating back to the Middle Ages; Lundastugan and the vicarage are specific examples of local architectural history. Several lakes, the Tranhult nature reserve nearby, climbing crags and events organised by the local heritage association round out the options. You can shape your stay around your own interests: exercise, cultural heritage or scenery.

Hiking in Seglora

The Seglora–Skärsjön hiking loop is about 1.6 kilometres long. It follows small forest paths around Skärsjön, east of Seglora, and is fairly flat. For a longer route, there is the 6.5-kilometre Seglora–Hunghults gamla kyrkväg hiking trail. If distance is the deciding factor for you, these are two clearly distinct options.

The green Viskadalen hiking trail follows gravel paths near Viskadalens folkhögskola in Seglora and is also fairly flat. The two trails described above differ in their surface: the loop follows small forest paths around the lake, while the Viskadalen trail uses gravel paths near the school. This means you can consider both distance and trail surface when choosing.

Cultural History and Crafts

The historical continuity of Seglora kyrka and its church village dates back to the Middle Ages. Seglora kyrka stands 300 metres northeast of the site of the old church. This location provides a tangible reference point for the area’s history. Lundastugan at Seglora Hembygdsgården is one of the few ridge-pole houses preserved in the area. The vicarage at Hembygdsgården is a valuable historic building and was probably built in 1793. Each building offers a different point of interest: Lundastugan represents a rarely preserved building type, while the vicarage’s probable year of construction is a specific historical reference point.

Hantverkshörnan at Seglora Hembygdsgården sells, among other things, rag rugs and table runners made in the weaving room. The Seglora local heritage association organises walks to various destinations in the surrounding area. The association’s recurring events include a Midsummer celebration with dancing and games around the Midsummer pole.

Lakes, Nature and Getting Around

There are several lakes in Seglora; Stora Hålsjön is the largest. There is a municipal bathing jetty at Bua strand. If the jetty is important to your plans, check its current condition before visiting. Tranhult nature reserve is located between Viskafors and Seglora, not far from Viskadalens folkhögskola. There is a car park and an information board to help you find your way around on site.

For the Kulturleden trail, you can park at Seglora kyrka; the hike starts and ends there. Check the parking conditions before travelling. Seglora also has two climbing crags. As well as hiking routes, you can choose climbing opportunities and the bathing jetty at Bua strand as different starting points for your trip.
