Dalsjöfors combines a varied landscape of forest areas and open farmland with nearby Lake Dalsjön and historic traces dating back to the 17th century. When planning your stay, it is worth distinguishing between the different highlights: swimming and fishing by the water, trails with different landmarks, and cultural history and a museum with specific visiting conditions. This can help you decide which side of the town you would like to shape your stay.

Landscape and Water

Forest areas and open farmland define the landscape of Dalsjöfors. Rölle is a state nature reserve established in 1982 and covering eight hectares. Lake Dalsjön is also one of the area's natural highlights: it is near Dalsjöfors and offers opportunities for swimming. Dalsjön swimming area has a small beach and a swimming jetty.

By the water, swimming and fishing are two distinct options. The Stora och Lilla Dalsjöns fishing conservation area is in Dalsjöfors, east of Borås. Both regular fishing permits and crayfish permits are available. This makes it possible to distinguish swimming at the lake from a fishing-focused stay; two different types of permits are available for fishing.

Trails and Landmarks

The signposted Dalsjön runt loop trail in Dalsjöfors follows gravel paths along the lakeshore. The purple Dalsjöhov trail starts at Dalsjöhallen/Dalsjöbadet and passes the Slättåsgrillen barbecue area by Lake Stora Dalsjön. The landmarks differ: the defining features of Dalsjön runt are its lakeside location and gravel surface, while those of Dalsjöhov are its starting point and the barbecue area.

Another trail-related option is Banvallen. This paved route between Gånghester and Ulricehamn has a starting point in Dalsjöfors Övrarp. The trail information therefore offers different starting points for planning: a signposted loop by the lake, a purple-marked trail with a named stop, and a paved route with a starting point in Dalsjöfors. Another trail also begins 100 metres from the Dalsjöfors Folkets park bus stop. If you are factoring in the bus stop, check current connections; local transit details may change.

Local History and Visiting Conditions

Since the 17th century, there have been four small watermills between the outlet of Lake Dalsjön and the country road from Toarp Church towards Skenstad. Dalsjöfors Väfveri Aktiebolag was founded in 1897. The historical perspective thus stretches from the mills to a later company founding, although the two facts concern different subjects and periods.

The Almedahls Museum in Dalsjöfors can be visited by prior booking and during events. Take these visiting conditions into account when planning your trip. Separate from this is the current information about Dalsjöbadet: it is closed until autumn 2028 due to renovation work. The facility's sports hall and youth centre remain open.
