Fritsla lies in the Häggån valley. Two routes provide a concrete framework for planning your trip: in Fritsla, you can join the Ekleden, a 22-kilometre hiking trail; the 55-kilometre cultural heritage Förläggargårdsturen leads through the town. The routes differ both in how you travel and in length. In addition, swimming spots and historic places offer further specific reasons to shape your trip around your own interests.
Hiking, Cycling and Horse Riding
The Ekleden is a 22-kilometre hiking trail that starts in Fritsla. While maintenance is under way, some sections may be unmarked. Bear this in mind when planning your route, and check the latest information about trail markings before setting off.
The Förläggargårdsturen offers a different route option: this cultural heritage cycle tour is 55 kilometres long and leads through Fritsla. Compared with the Ekleden, both the mode of travel and the distance are different. This lets you weigh up hiking against cycling rather than treating the two routes as equivalent activities. Milåsa Islandshästar also offers a riding school and riding camps. If you would like to include one of these activities in your stay, check participation details in advance.
Workers’ Housing and Industrial History
Fritsla is considered a well-preserved workers’ settlement with large wooden houses. This combination draws attention to both the settlement’s layout and its building style. At Hjälltorpsfallet, an old stone arch bridge crosses the rushing waters of the Häggån. The waterfall’s hydropower was used by the adjacent textile factory: here, a structure by the water meets a historic industrial use.
Solänge kvarn was built in 1870. To the west of the mill lies Kalvhagen, where the largest oak trees have a circumference of five metres. The construction date, location and tree circumference offer different points of reference for appreciating historic buildings and landscapes. Klockaregården is centrally located in Fritsla, adding a central spot in town to these local landmarks.
Swimming in Fritsla and at Furesjön
Kungabergsbadet has a 25-metre swimming pool and a spray park, a small water play area for younger children. Facilities include changing rooms, two outdoor showers and a wheelchair-accessible toilet. The pool, water play area and practical facilities give you a clear overview of the site. As it operates seasonally, check its opening status before travelling.
Furesjön lies about one kilometre east of Fritsla and is used for evening swims. This means that, alongside the swimming facility, you can also use a lake and a specific time of day as a guide for planning. Check the seasonal swimming conditions locally if you plan to visit the lake.
Tomteparaden Around Advent
Around Advent, Fritsla VIK organises the traditional Tomteparaden. The tradition has continued for more than 50 years, and children are at the heart of the parade. If you would like to plan your trip around this event, check the specific event dates before travelling.
