Several specific themes come together when planning a trip to Hindås: hiking trails starting at the station, paddling in the Nedsjön lake system and cultural events in the station building. There is also a marked trail system at Hindåsgården and the Klippan Nature Reserve nearby.

Hiking trails and Klippan

Two hiking trails start at Hindås station. The 42-kilometre Vildmarksleden starts there and ends at Skatås motionscentral in Gothenburg. The 140-kilometre Sjuhäradsleden also starts at the station and leads to Mullsjö. The total lengths differ by 98 kilometres; their respective endpoints also give you a concrete basis for comparing the routes.

Further along its regional route, the Sjuhäradsleden passes through forests, agricultural landscapes and urban areas. The Hindås Ski Club maintains the section of the trail that lies in Härryda Municipality. A marked trail system starts at Hindåsgården and passes through the eastern areas of Klippan. The Klippan Nature Reserve is located near Hindås.

Klippan farm is one of the oldest farms in Hindås and in Björketorp parish. Before 1908, it was called Assaretorp. The buildings, now in ruins, have stood there since at least 1811; the foundations, a hearth wall and a tall chimney stack remain as ruins of the house and barn.

Paddling on the Nedsjön lake system

Paddling in Hindås takes place on two connected lakes: Östra Nedsjön is connected to Västra Nedsjön by a canal. At the northern end of Östra Nedsjön, the Hindås Canoe Club has its own property at Orreviken “Tomten”, with a wind shelter on a sandy beach.

Hindås Canoe Club and Kanotcentral are a recognised canoe centre offering canoe hire. The club offers paddling in several disciplines: kayak, canoe, SUP, surfski and dragon boat. For specific planning, it is advisable to check the club’s current activities and rental options in advance.

Every summer, the club runs a popular canoe school. If you want to plan your trip around this seasonal offering, check the current summer schedule in advance.

Culture in the station building

The historically significant station building is centrally located in the town centre. Numerous municipal and private cultural events are held in the station building throughout the year; some events are seasonal. Art professor Ernst Pfannschmidt created a ceiling painting in a church in Hindås in the summer of 1923. The two cultural references are clearly distinct in time: events are held in the station building throughout the year, with some taking place seasonally; the ceiling painting in a church in Hindås dates from the summer of 1923.

When looking for a hotel in Hindås, you can focus your trip on specific differences: the total length and destination of a hiking route, a paddling discipline or the date of a cultural event.
