A standout elevation to visit during a stay in Rogašovci is Sotinski breg. At 418 metres, it is the highest point in Prekmurje and Goričko; locals also call it Kugla or Prekmurski Triglav. The tower on the hill can be reached via a geological nature trail that forms part of the Pomurska Mountain Trail. The municipality of Rogašovci is part of Goričko Landscape Park and the Goričko Wine Road.

Hiking Trails and Natural Sites

Another specific hiking route is the Vrbova pot. It starts at Slatinski vrelec in Nuskova, follows the Ledava between Rogašovci, Sveti Jurij, and Večeslavci, and then continues to Pertoča, passing St. Helena’s Church. This makes it possible to combine a walk with a cultural and historical stop without committing to a specific walking time or additional stages.

Distinctive red-orange iron oxide deposits gather at Slatinski vrelec in Nuskova and along the stream flowing away from it. Hikers and cyclists will find an information board and a covered rest area beside the spring. The deposits give the site a clearly recognisable natural feature, while the rest area also provides a convenient stopping point on the Vrbova pot.

Čarni kamen in Ocinje lies in peaceful woodland right on the border with Austria. A small clearing with two wooden benches and an information board serves as a place to rest in nature. The gravel road to Čarni kamen is part of a cross-border hiking connection between Slovenia and Austria. Local tradition tells of three black stones that once lay in the forest around Ocinje.

A Klopca ljubezni (Love Bench) has stood in Serdica since November 2023 as part of a nationwide Slovenian project. Hikers can scan the QR code to create a personalised interactive album. If you want to use the album, you can check on site whether the QR code is currently working. Serdiški breg can be reached by access road or on foot. Its hut is often used for social and cultural events and can be rented for private celebrations or picnics.

Churches, Mills, and Village Buildings

St. George’s Church in Sveti Jurij dates back to the 12th or 13th century. The present-day church preserves the original presbytery, or chancel, and the original bell tower. St. Helena’s Church in Pertoča is first mentioned in historical sources in 1425. Its presbytery was renovated in 2009 according to the vision of Marko Ivan Rupnik. The work included a new altar, ambo, baptismal font, and tabernacle; together with a mosaic, they form an ensemble rich in religious and symbolic significance.

The Pentecostal Church in Nuskova is an important part of the religious and cultural heritage of the municipality of Rogašovci. Its community dates back to 1939, when a religious service was held there for the first time, and it is one of the oldest Pentecostal communities in Slovenia. The church offers visitors an opportunity to discover Goričko’s diverse religious and cultural heritage.

In Ocinje, a wooden bell tower stands in the cemetery and is one of the best-preserved examples of built heritage in Pomurje. It is estimated to have been built around 1750 and was restored to its original form in 2000. The Farovški vodnjak in Sveti Jurij is a significant surviving monument of local cultural heritage and a well-preserved example of traditional village architecture. It was extensively restored in 2010; according to local residents, it is more than 100 years old.

Rogašovci’s milling history is also tangible: Dajčev mlin in Sotina is a complex comprising a multi-storey roller mill building and a ground-floor sawmill on the Ledava. The mill operated using hydropower, or water turbines, until 1959, after which it switched to electric power. The villages therefore bring together a variety of historical landmarks: religious buildings, village architecture, and a mill complex with its own technological history.
