Radobica lies in the northeastern part of the Tribeč Mountains, where they meet the Vtáčnik Mountains, and at the same time in a side valley of the Hornejský potok stream. Its cadastral area is part of the Ponitrie Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Ponitrie). This setting is a practical starting point for a trip that brings together mountain scenery, walks and local cultural history.

Landscape, Educational Trail and Parks

The “Radobický náučný chodníček” educational trail introduces visitors to places of interest in Radobica and offers walks through pleasant mountain scenery. The trail includes newly built covered rest shelters. This combines exercise with orientation: the route focuses on local information, while the shelters provide a place to sit. If you would like to learn more about places in Radobica as you explore, rather than simply walk, the educational trail is a good option.

Hôrka Park is located on Hôrka Hill above the church in Radobica. A rest area offers a lovely view of Radobica and its wooded natural surroundings. There is also the five-metre-long “Rebrík do neba” (“Ladder to Heaven”) attraction. The view, rest area and named attraction define this park, giving it a different focus from the informative educational trail. For planning purposes, this offers a clear choice between a walk with information about the area and a visit with a view and a place to rest.

Hruštička Park is used for a range of leisure activities. A bicycle rack was installed there in 2023. If the rack is important to your plans, check in advance whether it is still there.

Church and Watermill: Building and Local History

The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (“Kostol Božského Srdca Ježišovho”) was initially built as a chapel between 1949 and 1969. It was later enlarged and converted into a church by local residents. It is Radobica’s only cultural monument; a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in the courtyard in front of the building. The transition from chapel to church is the defining feature of its building history, linking this period to a specific change in use.

The watermill in Cerová was built in 1820 to serve the entire municipality of Radobica. During a reconstruction, it was fitted with a modern Francis turbine and new grain-processing machinery; the turbine was manufactured in the Czech Republic. Along the road to Cerová, the stone foundations of the former watermill and the remains of the watercourse are visible. Two distinct aspects help put the site in context: the mill points to its former purpose, while the foundations and watercourse mark the remains of the structure.

The sites offer clearly distinct points of interest: the educational trail combines a walk with information, Hôrka offers views and a place to rest, while the church and mill represent architectural and technical history, respectively. This makes it easy to choose Radobica based on what interests you most during your stay.
