Červená ulica preserves the original residential buildings of the Baťa colony. Unplastered brick walls and flat roofs define the characteristic houses and give the street a distinctive architectural appearance. The Kvetinová topánka offers a different way to explore Partizánske’s history: the two-metre-high sculpture made of living flowers recalls the city’s former importance as Slovakia’s shoe-making capital.

Baťa Heritage and Modern Architecture

Kostol Božského Srdca Ježišovho, too, tells the story of a clearly defined period of construction. It was built from 1943 to 1949 in the Functionalist style under the direction of Zlín architect Vladimír Karfík. Since 1995, it has been a national cultural monument. Inside is a monumental marble cross with a statue of Christ by sculptor Tibor Bártfay. The church is also one of the most significant religious buildings of modern architecture in Slovakia. Houses in the Baťa colony, a Functionalist church and a historic aristocratic residence thus illustrate different chapters in the history of architecture.

In the Šimonovany district stands Vodný hrad, which, among country mansions, is considered one of Slovakia’s oldest surviving Gothic-Renaissance aristocratic residences. The manor house and its park are listed as national cultural monuments. Vodný hrad was opened to the public in May 2016. If you are planning a visit, check current access arrangements in advance.

Wetland Landscape and Thermal Water

In the Veľké Bielice district, the Bielické bahná nature area covers 2.87 hectares and is protected at the third level. The peatland habitat lies on peat soil and features a warm mineral spring as well as several small ponds fed by thermal water. Bielické bahná has been designated a site of European importance. The wetland is home to a wide variety of bird species and rare plants, including the critically endangered marica pílkatá. Its protected status, landscape and rich variety of species give this natural area a character quite different from the buildings in the city.

Another connection with thermal water can be found at Termálne kúpele Malé Bielice, where 43°C thermal mineral water rises to the surface and is used for relaxation and recovery. This is distinct from the Aquacentrum Termály Malé Bielice. It has six pools: two indoor pools, including a relaxation pool and a hydromassage pool, and four heated outdoor relaxation pools. Check the facilities before your arrival.

Museum, Observatory and Outdoor Activities

Mestské Múzeum Partizánske hosts exhibitions, discussion sessions and lectures. It is a five-minute walk from the city centre. The observatory in Partizánske, in the Malé Bielice district, opened to the public at the end of August 1988. These two institutions complement the architectural and landscape attractions with a museum programme and an observatory.

Mountain biking enthusiasts can ride the Baťove traily, trails in forests that are accessible directly from Partizánske. They include routes of varying difficulty, as well as technical sections, tight turns and jumps. These differences are an important guide when choosing a route. Traditional events in Partizánske include the Májový kultúrny festival and Kultúrne leto. The Brodziansky kaštieľ, a landmark surrounded by an English park, is also located in the wider region.
