Tesáre offers several different starting points for planning your trip: protected habitats, water at the Priehrada Tesáre reservoir and the history of Kokošová Manor House. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Tesáre, you can consider whether nature, activities on the water, or architectural and park history should be the defining feature of your stay.

Protected Areas and Landscape

The Natura 2000 site SKUEV0135 Bočina is located within the cadastral areas of the municipalities of Tesáre and Závada and covers a total of 45.18 hectares. Its protected features include willow-poplar-alder floodplain forests and common juniper stands. This means that several habitat types are at the heart of the site, rather than just one landscape feature.

Tesársky Park is another protected area: it covers 1.96 hectares and has protection level 3. Its area is considerably smaller than Bočina. The two sites therefore represent different scales of nature conservation around Tesáre: a larger area with floodplain forests and juniper stands, and a more compact protected area with its own name.

Reservoir, Spring and Cycling Routes

The Priehrada Tesáre reservoir is on the Zľavský potok and borders the northern edge of Tesáre’s built-up area. It is used for fishing, swimming and water sports. For more intensive recreational use, the water must meet appropriate standards for quality and safety. Check local conditions before coming into contact with the water.

A nature trail to the Vajcovka spring runs along the right bank of the reservoir. The Kyselka mineral groundwater spring, also known as Vajcovka, is located in the cadastral area of Tesáre. In 2014, it was made accessible as part of a Nadácia Ekopolis project under the “Nestlé pre vodu v krajine” programme, in cooperation with the municipality of Tesáre, DHZ Tesáre volunteers, and the Kroko Velo and Babinec groups. Since this information refers to access at that time, check the current condition of the nature trail and spring locally before your visit.

Marked cycling routes towards the Považský Inovec offer another way to explore the area. They pass through the cadastral area of Tesáre. The riverside nature trail to Vajcovka and the cycling routes therefore differ in their destination and mode of travel: one leads to a named spring, while the others head towards the Považský Inovec.

Kokošová Manor House and Its History

Kokošová Manor House, also known as Kaštieľ rodiny Lenárt, is located in the southwest of Tesáre, on elevated ground in a park at the edge of the village, and is privately owned. Its origins date back to the 17th century; after 1770, it was remodelled in the Baroque-Classical style. The building’s history thus encompasses both an early origin and a later architectural transformation.

The complex includes a Baroque chapel dating from 1772, dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk. The historic park beside the manor house is considered particularly valuable for its landscape design, preserved composition and dendrological composition. Visitors interested in architectural history will find several distinct aspects of the historic ensemble here: the manor house itself, the chapel and the park’s design.
