A trip to Tešedíkovo can focus on historical memorial sites as much as on the lakes within the cadastral area. When planning your trip, it helps to make an initial choice: would you like your stay to centre on the Calvary, the church and monuments, activities by the lake, or a combination of both? When looking for a holiday apartment, you can use these priorities as a guide for your stay.

Calvary and Remembrance

The Calvary in Tešedíkovo was built between 1869 and 1876. At the end of the Stations of the Cross, the Golgotha–Calvary stands in front of the chapel. The Stations of the Cross and their final point therefore form a connected religious site that you can explore as a whole.

Every year on 15 March, regional commemorations are held to mark the beginning of the 1848–1849 revolution and struggle for independence in Hungary. If you would like to include the commemorations in your trip, check the annual programme in advance. The Calvary and the commemorative day offer different historical perspectives: religious remembrance and remembrance of the beginning of the struggle for independence.

Church: Architecture and Organ

The Church of St John the Baptist was built between 1816 and 1820 and consecrated in 1820. It has a single nave; the presbytery has a polygonal end, a sacristy is attached, and a tower is incorporated into the structure. The organ dates from 1824 and was made by Matej Vonberger.

A single-nave church has a floor plan with one nave; polygonal describes the multi-sided end of the presbytery. This helps you identify the architectural form and individual elements more precisely. The dates also mark distinct stages: construction and consecration were followed by the making of the organ in 1824.

Monuments and Jewish History

The monument to the Battle of Tešedíkovo is an obelisk next to the cemetery. The Home Guard Association of Pressburg County had it erected in 1869 in memory of fallen Home Guard members. A different memorial commemorates the victims of the First World War: it stands in a well-kept landscaped area on Tešedíkovo’s main square. The two sites therefore differ both in the occasion they commemorate and in their location.

Some of the gravestones from Tešedíkovo’s former Jewish cemetery, dating from the 19th and 20th centuries, are displayed in a park at the site of the former cemetery. There is also a tall iron bell tower on Nový rad Street, made from railway tracks and topped with a bell. The gravestones and the bell tower add further, distinct insights into the area’s history alongside the monuments.

Lakes and Activities

Čierne Lake is one of two state-protected lakes within the cadastral area of Tešedíkovo. Téglások Lake lies on the northern edge of the cadastral area. At Čierne Lake, its protected status is a notable feature; at Téglások, its location and the specific leisure options are relevant for planning.

At Téglások, carp fishing is possible with a float, boilies or a feeder. Check the applicable rules before fishing. The lake is also suitable for pleasant walks. Téglások therefore offers a choice of activities, while Čierne Lake, as a state-protected body of water, offers a different connection with nature.

Getting There by Bus and Train

Public bus services include the Šaľa–Neded–Kolárovo and Šaľa–Trstice routes. The Šaľa–Neded railway line also passes through the cadastral area of Tešedíkovo. Check current bus and train timetables before setting off so you can plan your journey around the specific connection.
