In Vráble, a winegrowing tradition built up over centuries meets archaeological history and historic architectural landmarks. Different interests may therefore influence your choice of destination: wine, local history, or a stay that combines cultural sites with nearby trails.

Town History and Archaeology

The town museum is located in the Stoličný dom, Hlavná 170/33, 952 01 Vráble. The building, later known as the Stoličný dom, was constructed as the Stoličný úrad in 1831–1832. The building’s history and its present-day function as a museum can therefore be seen side by side in one place. The Stoličný dom also houses the so-called Vrábeľská izba; its display may change with the museum program.

Exhibitions at the Stoličný dom are open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Wednesdays from noon to 5 p.m. As exhibition information is updated regularly, check access arrangements before your visit.

South of Vráble, the archaeological site of Fidvár lies among fertile fields that are also locally called Fidvár. By the end of 2018, the site had been declared a national cultural monument of Slovakia. The name thus refers both to the archaeological site and to the local name for the fields.

Chapels, Sculpture and Remembrance

Several landmarks can be distinguished by their architectural style and date. Božia muka, also known as Vendelínko, is a Neoclassical roadside chapel in the Horný Ohaj district, dating from the first half of the 19th century. The church grounds are home to the late Baroque Súsošie kalvárie, a sandstone group dating from 1768. The Kaplnka sv. Urbana in Dolné Prédium is a Neoclassical chapel dating from 1813. A Jewish cemetery on Družstevná ulica was established at the end of the 19th century. Together, these details offer different chronological and architectural points of reference rather than highlighting just one chapter of the town’s history.

Winegrowing Tradition and Events

Vráble has been a winegrowing region for several centuries. Two events with different focuses offer a glimpse into this tradition. The Vrábeľské slávnosti vinobrania is held annually and opens with a festive procession accompanied by singing and music from local folklore groups. Dates and program details vary from year to year.

At the Otvorené vrábeľské pivnice, more than 40 local winemakers open their wine cellars so visitors can taste their wines. The timing and participating winemakers may vary. The difference in focus is clear: the annual Vinobrania begins with a procession, while the open cellars center on wine tastings.

Museums and Trails Nearby

The Dom ľudových tradícií in Horný Ohaj houses a permanent exhibition on traditional living, as well as other exhibits. Visitor arrangements may vary, so check in advance which options are available. Another museum story leads to the Požitavské múzeum mlynárstva – Mašekov mlyn: it was founded in 2004 on an old farm beside the Žitava River. Its collection includes historic millstones. It also displays original regional animal breeds that lived in this area at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Marked hiking trails in the area around Vráble may also feature in your travel plans. This extends the options beyond architectural and museum history: when deciding whether to visit Vráble, you can consider both cultural subjects and trails in the surrounding area without having to combine them into a set excursion.
