Štós brings together a clearly defined spa stay with cultural and winter themes. The grounds of Kúpele Štós preserve architecture from several periods and a protected historic park; two churches tell the story of different building periods. Then there is the POLNER CUP tradition at Polnerová lúka. You can therefore plan your stay around spa facilities, cultural heritage or skiing.

Spa Stay and Forest Park

Kúpele Štós offers a seven-day speleotherapy stay. This therapy combines treatment in underground cave spaces with climate therapy. If this programme is the reason for your trip, plan around the stated length of stay; programme details may change and should be checked before planning. The Vital Water World at Kúpele includes water and steam baths, herbal, eucalyptus and Finnish saunas, a vital rain shower, a water course, a hydromassage pool and a tepidarium. Access and available services may change; check the conditions relevant to your visit in advance.

The grounds of Kúpele preserve original architecture from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as from the interwar period, along with a protected historic park. The forest park of Kúpele Štós is designated a national cultural monument of Slovakia. It includes more than 200 species of trees and flowers, complemented by streams with cascades and a fountain. The site thus brings together architectural history and landscaped grounds as two distinct facets. Individual features of the park may change over time.

Churches and Museum

The Roman Catholic church in Štós is considered probably the oldest building in the municipality; it was built in the second half of the 13th century. Its main altar dates from 1727 and bears a painting of Saint John of Nepomuk. Construction of the Evangelical church began much later, in 1786; it was consecrated on 28 September 1788. Its defining feature is an altar with an oil painting of Jesus Christ. The medieval Roman Catholic church and the Evangelical church built in the late 18th century thus stand side by side as examples of two different eras; their altars also feature different subjects.

The Zoltán Fábry Museum has a valuable library. If you plan to visit the museum, check its opening arrangements separately.

POLNER CUP at Polnerová lúka

The POLNER CUP offers a different reason to visit. Since 1984, the ski races for the title of “Champion of Štós” at Polnerová lúka have borne this name. The venue is on the north side of Tupý vrch and can be reached on foot from Štós in one to one and a half hours. Allow for this walking time if the venue is part of your day’s itinerary. During the race, participants prepare scrambled eggs in cauldrons over an open fire and add various kinds of homemade sausage. So, besides the races, the POLNER CUP also has its own culinary side. If the race is the reason for your trip, check the specific event date in advance.
