Stupava combines cultural monuments with outdoor activities. Kaštieľsky Park offers walks, recreational games and other low-intensity leisure activities. The Morava River floodplain is directly accessible from Stupava, especially for cyclists via marked cycling routes. Kalvária, the Baroque manor house, the historic greenhouse and the town’s pottery history add specific themes from local history to this selection. To help plan your visit, start by deciding what matters most: would you rather focus your stay on cultural monuments or prioritize outdoor activities?

Park and outdoor activities

The historic waterfall in Kaštieľsky Park was restored in 2026. The park was announced to reopen to the public from April 18, 2026; check current access before your visit. This lets you combine a visit to the park with a look at the restored waterfall, without treating the announced reopening as confirmation that it is currently accessible.

Cycling to the Morava River floodplain

In places, the cycling route to the Morava River floodplain passes through continuous forest complexes that are remnants of former floodplain forests. The cycling option therefore includes both a direct connection from Stupava to a specific destination and stretches through a landscape shaped by former floodplain forests. For trip planning, this is a distinct option alongside walks and other low-intensity leisure activities in the park.

Kalvária, manor house and Pajštún

Stupavská Kalvária is a national cultural monument. At its center is a Baroque chapel with a distinctive two-storey design. Fourteen Stations of the Cross were probably incorporated into the perimeter wall in the second half of the 19th century. The chapel and the wall thus highlight two distinct aspects of the ensemble: the Baroque architecture at its center and the stations incorporated into the wall.

The Baroque manor house in Stupava was built in the 17th century on the site of an earlier water castle. A hiking trail leads from the manor house to the ruins of Pajštún Castle. This provides two different starting points for planning: the manor house’s architectural history and a hiking route with the castle ruins as its destination.

Pottery, greenhouse and agricultural history

The Ferdiš Kostka Museum preserves an authentic pottery workshop, including its equipment, tools and a historic horizontal kiln. The museum is currently closed to the public and awaiting reconstruction; public visits are not currently possible. The historic greenhouse in Stupava is a uniquely preserved monument of its kind in Slovakia. Together, these topics show the breadth of local history, from pottery to a distinctive historic building type.

Stupava’s agricultural tradition was also shaped particularly by cucumbers and cabbage. Farmers sold these products at markets in nearby Vienna and Pressburg. This historical perspective therefore extends beyond buildings and crafts to include the produce that helped shape the farmers’ trade in earlier times.
