Husiná lies in the valley of a left-bank tributary of the Suchá. The village’s history includes a church with several datable construction phases and two distinct village emblems; a hiking trail leads from Husiná to Konrádovce. During your stay, you can explore the landscape, architectural history, heraldry and hiking as separate points of interest.

Village History and Church

The first mention of Husiná, its church and parish dates from 1332. The construction history of the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary (Kostol Navštívenia Panny Márie) is a separate matter: it was built in the Classicist style in 1787, restored after 1890 and extended in 1922. Thus, 1332 is not the year the church was built; the later dates refer to its construction and subsequent work on the church building. The church stands on a slight rise at the northeastern edge of Husiná, almost outside the village. Its location indicates its position in the landscape, while the dates provide a chronological framework.

Seals, Coat of Arms and Manor House

The oldest known seal of Husiná dates from 1758. It depicts a ploughshare upright, with its point facing down. By contrast, the coat of arms of Husiná shows a black plough on a silver shield, with a silver goose with a golden beak and golden feet lying on it. The orientation of the ploughshare stands out on the seal; on the coat of arms, the plough, goose and colours define the image. This makes the two village emblems easy to distinguish. Another architectural trace is the Classicist manor house (Kúria) from the early 19th century. Together with the church built in 1787, it provides a second point of reference for Classicist architecture in Husiná. Architectural history and heraldry thus stand side by side as distinct cultural and historical themes.

Hiking Trail to Konrádovce

The Husiná–Konrádovce hiking trail leads from Husiná via Nad Čentou and Vadkert to Konrádovce. After 3.5 km, it crosses the Cesta Márie Széchy. The crossing with the Cesta Márie Széchy is 3.5 km along the trail. The KST manages the trail under route number 8490. The route and crossing may change if the hiking trail is altered; its management and numbering may also change. Check the latest route information before setting out. The route offers a clearly named sequence of waypoints, while the church, manor house and village emblems offer a different focus: local history rather than the route itself.

A Regional Museum Connection

A late Romanesque sword from Husiná is on display in the cold weapons department of the Gemerské múzeum in Rimavská Sobota. Before visiting, check the current collection and presentation, particularly whether the sword is still on display. This museum connection adds a specific object originating from Husiná to the village’s history; the church, manor house, seal and coat of arms provide other local points of interest.
