Klokoč combines local history with mineral springs and an educational trail in the town centre. The attractions have different focuses: the Múzeum v starej škole centres on school history and folklore, while the springs and the park offer other ways to shape a stay. When planning your visit, you can first decide whether the museum, the spring sites or the paths in the park should be the main focus.

Local history in the old school

The Múzeum v starej škole is housed in the original rooms of a two-classroom school. School desks, the original blackboard and a wooden floor are among the features of the former classrooms. The museum also has folklore exhibits with historical connections, as well as objects used for various activities in the past century. A visit thus combines the actual school setting with a broader collection of historical everyday objects; it focuses not only on lessons but also on other activities of the past.

The museum has no regular opening hours. Visitors can arrange a visit by phone or email. Please arrange a time this way before making the museum visit a fixed part of your day.

Mineral springs in Klokoč

There are currently seven better-known mineral springs in Klokoč: Polom 1, Polom 2, Palčúrova, Podrichtárova, Jašova, Kubova, and a spring in the spruce grove by the Kocanský stream. Polom is considered the best-known and most frequently visited mineral spring in Klokoč. Jašov Medokýš, also called Jašova medokýš, emerges in the alluvial deposits of the Jašov stream; local residents visit it frequently. One of the Medokýš outlets is surrounded by concrete and protected by a shingle roof.

Polom and Jašov Medokýš offer different points of reference when choosing where to visit: Polom is chiefly known for its popularity, while Jašov Medokýš is notable for its location by the stream and frequent visits by local residents.

Educational trail and choice of route

The Park of the Outlaw Paľo Demikát is an educational trail in the centre of Klokoč, following in the footsteps of the outlaw Paľo Demikát from Klokoč. Two routes offer a clear choice: one follows a stream, while the other runs along an abandoned quarry. Information boards are placed throughout the park, and there is a tourist rest area beside the Polom mineral spring. If you prefer the course of a stream as your guide, you can choose the corresponding route; alternatively, there is the route along the abandoned quarry. Check the condition of the paths before your visit, as conditions may change.

Bell tower and church

The surviving municipal bell tower stands in the Klokoč cemetery, dates from around 1780 and contains a bell. The Church of the Immaculate Heart of the Virgin Mary of Fatima is also part of the town’s history: it originally served as a funeral home. The two sites tell different stories about the history of the buildings—the bell tower offers a tangible sense of its preservation, approximate date and bell, while the church speaks to its former function. If you are choosing cultural attractions, you can extend your focus from everyday school life in the museum to buildings and their original uses.
