When planning a trip to Mýto pod Ďumbierom, several distinct highlights are available: the seasonal offerings of MÝTO SKI & BIKE, the full-day route to Ďumbier, and the area’s church and craft history. The village lies within the protected area of the Low Tatras National Park (NAPANT). As resort services may vary by season and the Ďumbier tour takes a full day, travel dates and available time are useful starting points.

Skiing, cross-country skiing and summer cycling routes

MÝTO SKI & BIKE offers ski slopes and snowboarding facilities with a total length of 4,600 metres. Its services also include a ski school, rentals, and servicing for ski and cycling equipment; these visitor services may vary by season. At Pohanské, cross-country ski trails add to the winter offering. They are 17 kilometres long in total, but their operation depends on sufficient natural snow. For planning, it is therefore useful to distinguish between the ski and snowboarding facilities and the snow-dependent trails. Before a winter visit, also check which seasonal services are available on your travel dates.

In summer, MÝTO SKI & BIKE lists a total of 6,600 metres of cycling routes, including four downhill trails and three children’s trails. The Dedečkova chata route adds a specifically named itinerary: it follows the yellow cycle route 8598 into Mýto pod Ďumbierom. This gives cyclists both a total distance with details about trail types and a route leading to Mýto for orientation.

A full-day route to Ďumbier

The route to Ďumbier starts at the bus stop and car park in Mýto pod Ďumbierom. It passes through Pošova Mlynná, Chata gen. M. R. Štefánika and Krúpove sedlo. It is considered a difficult and strenuous full-day high-mountain hike. Allow a full day and bear in mind that weather and the time of year affect trail conditions. Check conditions before setting out; this tour calls for a different time commitment and level of physical preparation than the seasonal skiing and cycling activities.

Another activity is Ajax Farm in Mýto pod Ďumbierom, where visitors can ride horses and ponies. The farm also has a mini-zoo with domestic animals such as sheep, goats, geese and cows. This activity offers a different focus from winter sports and mountain hiking. Operating details and the animals on site may change; check the current information before visiting.

Churches and crafts in the village

The village also offers clearly defined historical themes beyond its outdoor activities. The Evangelical church in Mýto pod Ďumbierom was built between 1822 and 1828; the Roman Catholic Church of St Matthew dates from 1840. In the first half of the 20th century, linen and cotton cloth and loden were woven here. Loden shoes were also made, including for sale. The village’s history thus spans two 19th-century church buildings and specific textile and footwear production in the 20th century. Visitors who do not want to plan their trip solely around seasonal sports can consider these different historical periods as a cultural theme.
