At 229 ha, Jezioro Raduń is the largest body of water within Wałcz’s administrative boundaries. Lakeside paths, routes of varying lengths, and cultural and sporting attractions offer different ways to spend your time. When planning, you can consider whether you are most interested in the paths by the water, a particular route, or the city’s museums and technical attractions.

Lakeside paths, a bridge and a sporting connection

Wałecka Aleja Gwiazd is a lakeside promenade route in eastern Wałcz, by Jezioro Raduń. It begins near the Miejski Ośrodek Sportu i Rekreacji. Metal plaques set into the pavement are each dedicated to another athlete. This gives the route a special connection to sport, while its lakeside location puts the shoreline centre stage.

Another landmark by the water is Kłosowski Bridge, also known as the suspension bridge: it connects the two shores of Jezioro Raduń. The suspension bridge, intended exclusively for pedestrians, crosses a narrow section of the lake and shortens the way to the forest on the opposite shore. The fortification line of the Pomeranian Wall also runs through Wałcz and along the lakeshore.

Choose routes by length and type

A 6 km walking route is described between Wałcz, Pluskota and Kołatnik. A longer walk runs from Wałcz PKS bus station via allotment gardens, a bridge over the Dobrzyca and Jezioro Łubianka to the ZHP centre and Ostrowiec PKS bus station; this route is 13.7 km long. The different lengths and destinations give you concrete reference points when choosing a route for your stay.

Other routes vary in length and course: the black Wałcz–Kłębowiec route is 7 km long and runs via Pluskota and Rudnica. The green Wałcz–Czapla–Wiesiółka route covers 12 km. Another walking route, 4 km long, runs between Ostrowiec and the Leśniczówka Wałcz forester’s lodge. This lets you compare shorter and longer routes, as well as different places along the way, without planning based solely on distance.

For cycling, there is the 40 km Trasa Grupy Warownej Cegielnia. It is marked with name signs and runs via Kołatnik, Pluskota, Nakielno, Strączno, Chwiram and Wałcz before returning to Kołatnik. Its length and circular route clearly set it apart from the shorter paths and the walking routes mentioned above.

Water activities and woodland

On Jezioro Raduń, rowing and canoe racing courses with associated facilities are located level with COS OPO, where competitions are held. At the Miejski Ośrodek Sportu i Rekreacji by the lake, kayaks, boats and pedal boats are available for hire. Check the current availability of rentals before planning your visit.

There are also canoeing routes in the area around Wałcz, on the Dobrzyca, Piława and Rurzyca rivers. COS OPO Bukowina is located at the Wałcz exit towards Gorzów Wielkopolski, in a wooded area of beech trees. These details offer different themes for planning a trip: water activities, river routes and a woodland setting.

Museums and technical attractions

Muzeum Ziemi Wałeckiej is located in central Wałcz, at the intersection of Pocztowa and Orla streets, at the base of the Orla Peninsula on Jezioro Zamkowe. For further insights into the region’s history, the Szlak wałeckich zabytków runs along the shore of Jezioro Raduń and then on to Aleja Gwiazd; the route ends with a visit to the Grupa Warowna Cegielnia open-air museum. The Trasa Grupy Warownej Cegielnia also leads to this open-air museum in Wałcz, where a sightseeing break is planned.

At the “Metalowe Inspiracje” Local Science Centre, visitors can use a flight simulator and driving simulators for cars, forklifts and excavators. There is an educational playground for younger visitors. Practical courses are also planned on physics and chemistry topics, IT, renewable energy and LEGO construction, as well as a simulator lab with elements of robotics, mechanics and technology.

If you are looking for a hotel in Wałcz, decide what you want to focus on during your stay: the shore and water, a route based on length and course, or cultural and technical attractions. The specific routes and destinations make it easier to compare options and tailor your stay to the interests of your travel group.
