Ińsko combines a landscape shaped by the Ice Age with film culture and a memorial to the narrow-gauge railway.

Nature by the lake and in the landscape park

Ińsko lies in Iński Landscape Park, whose Ice Age-shaped landscape includes clear lakes, ravines, fields of erratic boulders and numerous forests. Lake Ińsko borders the town to the south and shares its name. It has three islands; the 20-hectare Wyspa Sołtyski is a nature reserve with an old beech and oak forest more than 150 years old.

Nearby is the erratic boulder reserve, 2 km from Ińsko. It stretches about 500 m east from the lakeshore; a shore path crosses the hill covered with erratic boulders opposite Sołtyski Island. Also nearby, on the wooded Wzgórze Zamczysko above Lake Zamczysko, is a Slavic hillfort. From this hill, you can see Lake Zamczysko, Ińsko and Lake Piesna.

These natural sites each offer something different: Wyspa Sołtyski is known for its protected old-growth forest, the erratic boulder reserve for a shore path across a boulder-strewn hill, and Wzgórze Zamczysko for its hillfort and views of the lake and town. You can choose between an island forest, lakeside scenery and a historic site.

Lake Ińsko is considered one of the most popular diving spots in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship because of its clear water and diverse wildlife and plant life. Local diving centres offer technical support; availability may change, so check before making plans.

Film and cultural events

Ińskie Lato Filmowe is one of Poland’s oldest regularly held film events. Its first edition took place in the first half of August 1973. The festival takes place in Ińsko, within Iński Landscape Park. Alongside cinema, it features events usually related to art and nature. Its regular programme includes screenings of new Polish films combined with meetings with filmmakers.

Railway history at Ińska Izba Pamięci

Ińska Izba Pamięci is located in the former narrow-gauge railway station building at 3 Kolejowa Street. Its permanent exhibition is dedicated to the 101-year history of the Szadzka Commuter Railway (Saatziger Kleinbahn AG). The collection includes railway lamps, cardboard tickets, timetables, maps of the railway network, wagon factory plates, and railway workers’ uniforms and caps. Timetables illustrate railway operations, while uniforms show everyday working life.

Plan visits in advance

The two cultural attractions require different advance checks: for the film festival, check the exact dates for your travel period; for a visit to Ińska Izba Pamięci, please make contact by phone in advance. This means you can distinguish between event dates and visit arrangements while planning.
