Jarzębowo is located on the island of Wolin and brings together several archaeological points of interest with a historical perspective on municipal route planning. The village is home to a medieval hillfort, a fortified settlement. It also has the archaeological sites listed in the heritage register as “osada, st. 2”, “osada, st. 3” and “osada, st. 9”. This gives the destination a thematic focus on settlement history, complemented by an account of former municipal transport routes.

Understanding the archaeological sites

The hillfort is classified as a medieval fortified settlement; its protected status is recorded in both the register of monuments and the heritage register. Alongside it are the three settlement sites listed in the heritage register as “osada, st. 2”, “osada, st. 3” and “osada, st. 9”. “Osada” refers here to an archaeological settlement site; the numbers distinguish the three locations. Jarzębowo therefore has two distinct archaeological descriptions: a fortified site dating to the medieval period and several settlement sites. If cultural heritage is an important consideration when choosing a destination, this distinction can help you better understand Jarzębowo’s historical focus. It can also help you decide whether you are more interested in a fortified medieval site or in several archaeological settlement sites.

Historical route plans

A municipal resolution from 2015 set out two routes. Route No. 2 was planned to run from Wolin through several places, including Jarzębowo, and back to Wolin. Route No. 9 was to run from Unin through Jarzębowo, Korzęcin, Łuskowo, Łuskowo Osiedle, Rekowo and Chynowo to the school in Sierosław. The routes differed in their layout: No. 2 returned to Wolin, while No. 9 ended at the school in Sierosław. Jarzębowo was included in both plans. These routes come from the 2015 municipal resolution and formed part of the plans at that time; they are not part of today’s public transport timetable. On the planned Route No. 2, Jaromierz, Darzowice and Unin came before Jarzębowo; Korzęcin, Łuskowo and Sierosław followed it.

Distinguishing Jarzębowo from Wolin

Jarzębowo is located on the island of Wolin. The municipality also has a marina and a yacht harbour basin in Wolin, at ul. Mostowa. This harbour location belongs to Wolin, not Jarzębowo. The island, the village and the specific address refer to different geographic levels; the marina is a separate location within the municipality.
