From the breakwaters, you can look out over the sea, the coast and a stretch of the Dziwna River toward the bridge. The promenade offers a scenic walking route within the town. Dziwnów thus offers different perspectives on the water and the town, complemented by exhibitions, a protected lake and seasonal excursion trips.
Local history and walking routes
Dziwnów lies on both sides of the Dziwna River. Since the town’s beginnings, there has been a need for a permanent connection. This location is a distinctive part of the town’s history. One special feature of the drawbridge becomes apparent when it is raised: ships up to 10 metres high and 8 metres wide can then pass through.
The promenade offers a scenic walking route within Dziwnów. One specific section is Promenada Zachodnia in the western part of the town. It runs along the crest of a dune and opened at the end of 2018. This makes it possible to distinguish between a walking route through the town and a named section associated with the dune landscape.
Sea views and protected nature
The breakwaters are accessible to tourists all year round. From there, you can see the sea, the coast and a stretch of the Dziwna River toward the bridge. The view brings together several distinctive elements of the waterscape, while the promenade offers another way to explore Dziwnów on foot. Lake Martwa Dziwna is included in the Natura 2000 conservation programme and complements the seaside views with a protected inland location.
The beaches in the surrounding municipality also offer opportunities for swimming: in Dziwnów, Dziwnówek, Łukęcin and Międzywodzie, you can swim in the sea under the supervision of qualified lifeguards. Beach rental facilities offer equipment. These beach locations are therefore part of what the municipality has to offer; this statement does not refer solely to a single beach in Dziwnów.
Exhibitions and excursion trips
At Nadmorski Park Miniatur, lighthouses from the Polish coast can be seen in one place. The park can be visited independently or with a guide. Morskie Centrum Nauki has a different focus: its exhibition covers the history of Dziwnów’s fishermen, and visitors can conduct experiments on processes in the sea. The two offer distinct approaches: a joint presentation of lighthouses, and a combination of local fishing history with hands-on scientific exploration.
The seasonal offer in the surrounding municipality includes excursion boats designed as pirate ships. They depart from Przystań Statków Wycieczkowych every year from spring until the end of the summer season, travelling to Kamień Pomorski and out to sea. If such a trip is important for your visit, check departure times for your chosen date.
When choosing when to travel, it is useful to note the difference between these options: the breakwaters are accessible to tourists all year round, while excursion trips are available from spring until the end of the summer season. When planning, you can decide whether to focus on the breakwaters, which are accessible year-round, or on a seasonal boat trip.
