Mrzezyno lies at the mouth of the Rega River and is a seaside resort with a distinctive coastal character. Wide, fine-sand beaches and the harbor define the town; there are also coastal cycling routes, water sports and several reminders of its maritime history. This gives you more than just a beach to consider when choosing where to stay: you can also include nature, culture and activities on the water in your plans.

Beach, Dunes and Protected Coast

The beaches of Mrzezyno are wide and characterized by fine sand. Offshore sandbanks create safe, relatively shallow swimming areas. Together with the dunes and pine forests, the coast is part of the Natura 2000-protected Trzebiatów-Kołobrzeg coastal strip. The beach and landscape are therefore closely linked; the coast is not only about swimming areas, but also about a protected landscape.

If you would also like to explore the surrounding nature, the “Nadmorski Bór Bażynowy” reserve is nearby, west of Mrzezyno. It is characterized by wind-shaped formations and crowberry. The reserve adds a distinct natural feature to the coastal landscape, without requiring you to plan a visit.

Harbor, Cycling Routes and Water Sports

The harbor in Mrzezyno is intended for seagoing yachts and fishing boats. Excursion boats can also dock there; fishing trips for cod are offered from Mrzezyno on these boats. If you plan such a trip, check dates and availability in advance, as no specific departure details are provided.

Windsurfing and kitesurfing are among the water sports available on the beaches. Coastal cycling routes connect Mrzezyno with neighboring towns; specific route conditions may change. These options offer different ways to plan your day: a fishing trip is a boat excursion, cycling routes link towns along the coast, and windsurfing and kitesurfing are beach-based activities. You can choose what appeals to you most: getting out on the water, cycling farther along the coast or spending time at the beach.

Church Art and Maritime Remembrance

The Church of St. Peter and Paul was built between 1900 and 1912. Its presbytery features glass mosaics by Prof. Henryk Burzec. The stained-glass windows by Maria Powalisz-Bardońska of Poznań depict “sea flowers.” The construction dates and named works of art give the church a specific architectural and artistic connection to the town’s history.

The “Wedding to the Sea” monument commemorates the first postwar Polish ceremony of that name, held in Mrzezyno on March 17, 1945. The Trzebiatów municipality holds annual commemorations at the monument, including a historical reenactment; dates and programs may vary. Another monument, “Tym, którzy nie powrócili z morza” (“To Those Who Did Not Return from the Sea”), commemorates fishermen who lost their lives at sea. Alongside the main monument, smaller blocks display fishing boat numbers and the fishermen’s names. The two sites highlight different aspects of history: the 1945 ceremony at one, and the memory of those who did not return from their work at sea at the other.

Chata Rybaka is also part of the town’s history. It is one of the oldest surviving buildings and was probably built toward the end of the 18th century, before being remodeled in the 1920s. The restored building houses a restaurant serving local specialties. If you would like to eat there, check the current opening hours in advance.

Fish and Local Cuisine

Fish is a distinctive part of the local food scene beyond the restaurant as well: smokehouses and fish fry shops in Mrzezyno serve freshly prepared fish dishes. Flounder and turbot are offered for sale directly from fishing boats at the landing stage. Individual vendors and availability may vary, so do not count on these fish being available for purchase every day.

There are several options to consider when planning where to eat: a restaurant in the restored Chata Rybaka, fish dishes at smokehouses and fish fry shops, and the possibility of buying directly at the landing stage. Local cuisine complements the beach and harbor attractions, without relying on a specific vendor or a fixed time to visit.
