Kielpino combines a lake with a local history that extends far beyond a single building. Its history spans an Early Iron Age hoard, the church, with construction phases in the 15th and 18th centuries, and the miller's house from 1926. The historic cemetery is another feature. Kielpino therefore offers cultural and historical points of interest in particular; fishing at Lake Kiełpino adds another focus, subject to current regulations.

Church and historic sites

The church in Kielpino was built in the 15th century and rebuilt in the 18th century. It retains a Baroque altar and a Baroque pulpit from the first half of the 18th century. The combination of construction phases and furnishings reveals two historical layers: the development of the building and the context of its surviving Baroque elements. Those interested in sacred architecture can consider the building's history and its furnishings separately.

The cemetery was established in the 15th century and has a regular layout. Its origins therefore date to the same century as the church's construction. A much later point of reference is the miller's house at the Kiełpino mill, built in 1926. Alongside the history of the church, the historic cemetery and the mill are distinct topics in their own right.

An Early Iron Age hoard

An archaeological hoard containing 42 bronze objects was discovered within the village of Kielpino. It consisted mainly of parts of horse harnesses, along with several body and clothing ornaments. The find dates to the Early Iron Age, Hallstatt C, and is dated approximately to the period from 750 to 600/550 BC. In Pomerania, the hoard is one of only a few finds of this kind. Its contents and dating serve different purposes: the objects show the specific composition of the find, while Hallstatt C places it in its historical context. Compared with the church and the miller's house, the hoard dates back many centuries further; it shifts the historical perspective well before the medieval and modern construction phases.

Settlement by the lake and fishing

Kielpino is a settlement with a network of streets and squares by a lake. Its settlement pattern and lakeside setting define the village's spatial character. Lake Kiełpino also offers a specific activity: recreational fishing. A municipal regulation from June 2021 permits recreational fishing in accordance with local and national rules; it also notes that conditions may change. Check the current regulations before going fishing.

If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Kielpino, you can choose the destination based on your interests: the historical sites offer several periods and types of objects, while fishing provides a different connection to the lake, subject to regulations. This can help you decide whether the village's character suits your travel plans.
