Gothic walls, a Baroque altar and a post mill dating from the 19th century give Przybiernów a cultural and historical character; a nearby lake and rivers on the edge of the municipality add a water-related dimension. This offers different focal points for planning your trip: you can explore architecture and historic buildings, or learn about waterways and local traditions.
Church and windmill: building history in several layers
The Gothic church in Przybiernów dates from 1554. It includes a half-timbered extension and a tower dating from 1679. Its medieval perimeter walls survived an extensive restoration in 1679. This brings together components from different periods in a single building: the walls are medieval, while the tower and restoration are associated with 1679. The furnishings include a Baroque altar from 1712–1713 and a Gothic Madonna and Child from the 14th century. The contrast between the Baroque altar and Gothic sculpture offers another perspective on the church: in addition to the building itself, you can also appreciate the different dates of the artworks. The Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary is listed both in the monument register and on the heritage list.
A different focal point is the post mill dating from 1837 in Przybiernów. The name refers to a type of construction in which the mill body rests on a trestle. This distinguishes the technical structure from the church: here, the focus is on a historic type of mill, while the church is defined by its sacred architecture, altar and Madonna. Anyone interested in architectural forms can consider these two features side by side without assigning them to the same period.
Lake, rivers and seasonal bathing area
The Przybiernowskie Lake is nearby. It covers almost 88.9 hectares, is up to 5.3 metres deep and has a shoreline 4,675 metres long. Its area and shoreline give a sense of its extent; its maximum depth describes a different dimension. Together, these three measurements provide a more precise geographical picture than simply calling it a lake. The Wołczenica and Gowienica rivers flow along the edge of the Przybiernów municipality, and canoeing is possible on both rivers. The lake stands out for its size and shape, while the rivers are associated with a specific activity.
Przybiernów is also home to the seasonal Kąpielisko “JAMA” bathing area. If you are planning a visit, check in advance whether it is currently open.
Local culture and dated events
In 2024, KGW Przybiernów held beekeeping workshops in the municipality of Przybiernów. Residents and visitors from neighbouring towns learned about beekeeping under the guidance of Agnieszka and Jarosław Hoffmann from Pasieka Hoffmann and made their own beeswax candles. The workshops combined an introduction to the subject with hands-on craft activities. As an event from 2024, this practical experience sits alongside the historical perspective offered by the church and windmill.
For many years, the municipality of Przybiernów and the Gminne Centrum Kultury have organised the harvest festival as a local tradition. One particular edition, the Dożynki Gminne, took place on 31 August 2019 at the Przybiernów sports stadium. The long-standing organisation describes the tradition, while the date places a specific edition in time and location.
