Wikno is one of four villages—along with Jabłonka, Natać Duża and Natać Mała—that, together with Lake Omulew, form “Kraina 7 osobliwości” in the Ramucko-Napiwodzka Forest. This makes the village part of a named travel region; at the same time, activities differ in how closely they relate to Wikno: the bathing area was scheduled for 2026, while forest and lakeside paths are nearby. When planning your stay, you can first consider whether you want to focus more on the lake, forest processes or paths to several lakeside areas. If you want to combine different interests, you can then distribute these highlights accordingly.
Bathing area at Lake Omulew
A designated bathing area was set up at Lake Omulew in Wikno from June 26 to August 26, 2026; these dates applied to the 2026 bathing season. If visiting the bathing area is important to your trip, check the information for the relevant season if you plan to visit outside this period. This lets you take the specific seasonal dates into account when planning.
Forest themes and nearby trails
Nearby is the “Koniuszanka II” nature trail, a closed loop approximately 2.5 kilometres long with 12 educational stations. It focuses on forest processes: succession, natural regeneration, forest conversion and tree dieback. The topics cover different aspects: succession and natural regeneration draw attention to development and renewal, while forest conversion and tree dieback focus on other changes in the woodland. The walk is therefore devoted to forest processes, not just the route itself. If forest topics are of particular interest to you on a walk, you will find a clear thematic focus here to help guide your choice.
The “Szlak Wokół Omulewa” circular route has a different focus. In the surrounding area, it approaches the shores of Lake Omulew and Lake Trzcinowe; there are places to stop and swim. To choose between the trails, consider the difference in focus: Koniuszanka II has educational stations about forest processes, while the Szlak Wokół Omulewa focuses on the shores of two lakes and the bathing and resting spots there. Lake Omulew thus features in two different contexts: as the location of the bathing area in Wikno during the 2026 bathing season, and as one of the lakes whose shores the circular route approaches in the nearby area.
Getting there and cycling
For a drive to the yellow hiking trail, the car park by the forester’s lodge, the start of the nature trail or Zajazd Myśliwski in Wikno are suggested as starting points. If you are planning to follow the trail, you can first choose one of the suggested points as your starting point for the drive.
The 2025 Wikno Festival included the family bike tour “Tour De Omulew.” As a dated event, the bike tour complements the walking trails described above with a cycling activity at the village festival.
