In the centre of Szczerzbowo, the village pond lies at the intersection of county roads 1622N and 1739N. The village is situated between the Wielkich Jezior Mazurskich and Jezior Legińsko-Mrągowskich protected landscape areas. This gives Szczerzbowo both a clearly defined centre and a landscape setting. Traditional village buildings and the layout based on an old Prussian settlement plan add historical context to the village’s features. When planning your trip, you can consider the village’s layout, landscape and cycling route as distinct points of interest. A new public transport stop was built at the same intersection in 2025. Before travelling, check whether and when a service runs from there.

Cycling Route through Szczerzbowo

The Mrągowo branch of the Mazurska Pętla Rowerowa runs through Szczerzbowo. This provides a specific point of reference for cyclists: the village lies along this named branch. Before setting out, check the current route conditions before including this section in a specific stage plan.

Village Pond and Planned Rest Area

The village development plan for 2025–2031 includes a rest area for cyclists beside the village pond. Plans include benches, bicycle stands and a repair station. These features are part of a proposal and should not be assumed to be available for use already. The rest area is also intended to encourage visitors to meet local residents, who can introduce them to the village and its services, including agritourism. The plan therefore encompasses both a place for cyclists to rest and an intention to showcase local offerings. A wooden footbridge was also planned for recreation and observing nature. The rest area and footbridge are proposals and should not be treated as completed facilities when planning a visit.

Landscape between Two Protected Areas

The local landscape includes features of a traditional rural setting, ponds and access to woodland. Together with its position between the two protected landscape areas, these offer two scales to consider when finding your bearings: the protected areas define the wider setting, while the ponds and woodland access describe the landscape right around the village. If landscape is a key factor in choosing your destination, you can weigh the broader setting and the features close to the village separately.

Village Character and Historical Traces

Traditional village buildings and the layout based on an old Prussian settlement plan offer two ways to explore the village’s history. The buildings reflect the village’s traditional character, while the settlement plan points to its historical layout. Szczerzbowo also has a former 19th-century Protestant cemetery. Following efforts by local residents, it was reopened. The architectural character, historic village layout and a community initiative thus represent distinct aspects of the village’s history.
