In Gołdap, there is more than one way to explore: a kayaking route follows the Gołdapa through several places, while a hiking and cycling trail leads towards Grabowo. There is also Piękna Góra, with activities in the snow and in summer, as well as recreational spots by the graduation towers and Lake Gołdap. The combination of a water route, trail, mountain and places to play or play golf offers different ways to experience the area.

On the water and towards Grabowo

The kayaking route on the Gołdapa runs from Lake Gołdap through the town of Gołdap and on through Juchnajcie, Boćwinka, Sapałówka and Banie Mazurskie to Zakałcze and Mieduniszki. It thus connects a lake, the town and other named places along the Gołdapa. Those interested in waterways can use this sequence as a guide and consider the named stops as part of the route.

The green Gołdap–Grabowo hiking and cycling trail offers a different perspective. It is 23.3 kilometres long and classified as moderate. It starts at the Immanuel Kant monument in Gołdap and runs from there towards Grabowo. The two routes differ in how you travel: one is a kayaking route on the Gołdapa, while the other is a hiking and cycling route with a specified length and difficulty level. The starting point and direction are also provided to help with navigating the land route.

Piękna Góra in different seasons

Activities on snow take centre stage at Piękna Góra: the ski slopes are snow-covered, groomed and illuminated after dark. There is also a snow park for snowboarders. Ski and snowboard lessons with professional instructors are available for beginners. The mountain therefore offers slopes, an area for snowboarders and lessons for beginners—different options for anyone interested in winter sports.

In summer, a high ropes course operates on the Zajazd side. If you want to plan a course or this seasonal activity, check availability in advance. The shift from activities on snow to the high ropes course gives Piękna Góra a different character depending on the season.

Playground, graduation towers and mini golf

Next to the graduation towers is a playground for all generations, covering an area of one hectare. Mini-golf courses are located around the graduation towers and on the shore of Lake Gołdap. Clubs can be borrowed free of charge from the Mineral and Medicinal Water Pump Room (Pijalnia Wód Mineralnych i Leczniczych); check their current availability on site. The three specific landmarks—the playground, graduation towers and lakeshore—offer distinct places to visit in addition to the routes and Piękna Góra.

In the wider travel region

The wider travel region includes the Puszcza Romincka Landscape Park. It has peat bogs and swamp forests, including boreal spruce forest on peat. Eight nature reserves have been designated in the park, two of them in the buffer zone. The park area is also designated as a Natura 2000 site for habitat protection. These regional natural features and protected areas add a distinct landscape context to the activities in the area.
