In Wyszmontów, early settlement traces, the history of a manor house and park complex, and three individually listed natural monuments come together. For each of the three trees, the species, trunk circumference and height are specified. This combination of local history and distinctive natural features gives the place several clearly distinguishable themes.

Early Settlement and Local History

Traces of a cemetery of the Lusatian-Pomeranian Bell Beaker type have been discovered in Wyszmontów and its immediate surroundings. According to archaeological information, people settled there more than 2,000 years ago. This early settlement offers a different perspective on local history from the later references to the manor house and park.

The relationship with Ożarów is also part of local history: Ożarów was established later than Wyszmontów, on the territory of Wyszmontów. This sequence adds a later stage of local development to the archaeological evidence and connects the two place names through a specific territorial link.

Manor House Park and Surviving Traces

The manor house park in Wyszmontów is listed in the heritage register under number A.560. The register is current as of December 31, 2025; the register gives December 4, 1957, December 13, 1957, and May 27, 1986, as the entry dates. These dates refer to the park’s listing.

Only a group of old trees remains from the former manor house and park complex. Wyszmontów is also one of seven places in the municipality of Ożarów associated with manor house complexes in a municipal overview. The register entry and the group of trees offer different points of reference for local manor house history; the overview establishes the connection to the municipality.

The dates serve different purposes: the reference to more than 2,000 years concerns settlement, while the years 1957 and 1986 mark the park’s entries in the register. This makes it possible to distinguish early local history from the history of the register.

Natural Monuments in Wyszmontów

A Canadian poplar, a sycamore maple and a crack willow are listed as natural monuments in Wyszmontów. The Canadian poplar is recorded with a trunk circumference of 4.55 m and a height of 26 m; the sycamore maple with a trunk circumference of 3.35 m and a height of 19 m; and the crack willow with a trunk circumference of 5.10 m and a height of 21 m. By comparison, the poplar is the tallest, while the crack willow has the greatest trunk circumference. The highest measurements therefore belong to different trees.

There are 14 natural monuments in total in the municipality of Ożarów, spread across three places: Wyszmontów, Jankowice and Śmiłów. The number 14 refers to the municipality as a whole. According to a municipal tourism website, last updated on April 27, 2020, the living natural monuments in the municipality of Ożarów are protected and visited very frequently by tourists.

The information can be readily distinguished when choosing a theme: the archaeological finds and Ożarów’s later establishment tell the story of local development; the park listing and group of trees relate to manor house history; and the three natural monuments allow a comparison of specific species and measurements. You can therefore decide whether you would like to learn more about Wyszmontów through its historical periods or through individual natural features.
