In Jędrzejów, several historic buildings sit alongside a museum with unusually diverse collections. There is also a landscaped museum garden and a hiking trail that starts at the museum.

Churches and Monastery History

The Cistercian church in Jędrzejów dates from around 1140; some surviving fragments date back to around 1110. Kościół św. Trójcy was built at a different time, in the first half of the 15th century. The two churches offer different points of reference for the town’s history.

The history of music also has a specific venue: the Archiopactwo cysterskie at ul. Klasztorna 20 hosted concerts during the XXXII. Międzynarodowy Festiwal Muzyki Organowej i Kameralnej Jędrzejów 2026. The concerts in the 2026 edition took place on Saturdays at 7 p.m.

Museum, Garden and Hiking Trail

The Muzeum im. Przypkowskich brings together a variety of subjects. Its collections include a library of old prints and extensive holdings related to bookplates, graphic art, historic gastronomy, pharmacy and photography. There are also exhibits on the Polish Legions. Visitors interested in several collecting fields will find more than a single thematic focus here.

The “Ogród Czasu” is part of the museum. Water basins shaped like water steps and flowing water define the garden; the garden wall features zodiac signs and symbols of the elements and planets. The Konarski Trail, the blue Szlak im. ks. Stanisława Hieronima Konarskiego, starts at the museum on Plac Tadeusza Kościuszki. The trailhead is therefore at a specific cultural landmark.

As part of the wider Jędrzejów destination, the Przypkowski Museum also offers an architectural point of interest: the complex on Plac Kościuszki comprises two historic townhouses at the front, a rear building and an exhibition pavilion. By the number of timepieces on display, the museum ranks third in the world, after Chicago and Oxford. This ranking adds an international comparison to its collections.

The monastery’s history is also part of this broader view of Jędrzejów. The Cistercian monastery was founded between 1140 and 1149 and was the first Cistercian monastery in the Polish territories of the time. The monastery’s founding date should be distinguished from the dates given for the Cistercian church: the church dates from around 1140, with fragments from around 1110.

For nature enthusiasts, the floristic nature reserve “Gaj” is a point of interest in the wider destination. It is located in the municipality of Jędrzejów in Jędrzejów County and protects populations of the lady’s slipper orchid (Cypripedium calceolus). Nine legally protected species of vascular plants also grow there, three of which are strictly protected. This is a distinct nature attraction alongside the churches and museum collections.

Rail connections may also be useful when planning your trip. Trains run to and from Kielce, Sędziszów, Kozłów, Kraków, Warsaw and Katowice from Jędrzejów station; check current connections and travel times before your trip. The route of the Świętokrzyska Kolejka Wąskotorowa Ciuchcia Ponidzie runs from Jędrzejów via Jasionna, Wygoda and Motkowice, returning to Jędrzejów. As the route may change seasonally, it is advisable to check the current itinerary before travelling.

The annual Jędrzejowska Noc Muzeów at the Przypkowski Museum offers free admission for a special evening at the museum. The date changes from year to year, so check the relevant edition when planning your trip. When choosing a hotel, you can set your priorities: historic buildings and collections, the trail starting at the museum, or a stay that also takes in nature and rail attractions across the wider destination.
