Three distinct themes stand out for a trip to Piaseczno: caves, Okiennik Wielki and historical traces in the forest. At Jaskinia Wielkanocna, planning is shaped by a vertical shaft and a clear access requirement; at Okiennik Wielki, high rock walls, climbing routes and different historical periods sit side by side. Trzy Groby adds a forest location marked by a small cross to this selection. You can consider whether cave dimensions and access, rock and climbing routes, or historical interpretations should be the focus of your stay.

Caves: Dimensions and Access

Jaskinia Wielkanocna is 70 meters long and 16 meters deep; its entrance is 380 meters above sea level. The cave begins with a 12-meter-deep vertical shaft. Its length, depth, entrance elevation and vertical entry describe different features. Planning also involves one clear condition: the cave is accessible only with alpine equipment. Take this requirement into account if you are considering making Wielkanocna the focus of your trip.

Jaskinia Stefanowa-Dziura is 42 meters long and 15 meters deep. Compared with Wielkanocna, it is shorter, while the depth figures of 15 and 16 meters are close. Jaskinia Piaskowa is characterized by its vertical extent. Thus, the caves differ according to the features described for each: for Wielkanocna, the shaft and entrance elevation add to its length and depth; for Stefanowa-Dziura, length and depth are compared; and for Piaskowa, vertical extent is the defining feature.

Okiennik Wielki: Rock, Routes and History

The Szlak Orlich Gniazd runs at the foot of Okiennik Wielki; the rock walls are more than 30 meters high. The route describes the path’s position relative to the rock formation, while the height gives a sense of the scale of its walls. Several difficult climbing routes have also been established at Okiennik Wielki. These include “Komin Kosmonautów,” “Super Akcja” and “Śląski Filar.” The Szlak’s course at the foot of the rock and the climbing routes on it are distinct aspects you can consider separately when exploring Okiennik Wielki.

The rock’s history also spans different periods. People in prehistoric times sought shelter in a cave at Okiennik Wielki as long as 60,000 years ago. A fortified structure is believed to have existed there in the 12th and 13th centuries; this interpretation is based on folk legends. The prehistoric shelter and the supposed medieval structure should therefore be viewed differently: the fortification remains explicitly a conjecture.

Trzy Groby in the Forest

Trzy Groby is located in a forest in Piaseczno. The graves are believed to be those of Russian soldiers; a small cross marks the site. Its historical association thus differs from that of Okiennik Wielki: here, the focus is on graves and their presumed attribution, while there it is a cave used as a prehistoric shelter and the uncertain interpretation of a medieval fortification. Together, these places show the different ways historical themes are represented in Piaseczno.
