The Paprocany Leisure Centre is located on Lake Paprocany, on the edge of the Pszczyna Forest. The lake and forest shape the landscape here. Hiking and cycling trails run around the lake and through the Pszczyna Forest. The 27-kilometre Tyska Pętla Rowerowa offers a different view of the city. It passes through various districts, where visitors can discover the city’s history and numerous architectural monuments. This brings different perspectives together: the lake and forest on the one hand, and city history and architectural heritage on the other.

Square Architecture and Industrial History

Plac św. Anny is the central square of Osiedle A. Its defining features include post-war socialist realist architecture, architectural details, rich decorations and a fountain. Unlike the trails around the lake and forest, the focus here is on the design of a single public square.

Browar Obywatelski adds an industrial history dimension to this urban perspective: as a post-industrial site, it has been included in the Industrial Monuments Route. A recipe for Tychy beer that is more than a hundred years old has also been revived there. This brings together the post-industrial character of Browar Obywatelski and the story of a revived beer recipe.

City History in the Museum and Urban Space

The Tychy City Museum offers museum classes on the history of Tychy and the role of museums today. Its programme also includes trips around Tychy and urban exploration games. The city history section brings together exhibits on the history of Tychy and Upper Silesia. Another institutional connection is the Tyska Galeria Sportu: since 2016, it has been a branch of the Tychy City Museum and is located at the Municipal Stadium at ul. Edukacji 7.

The Szlak Miejski, created in 2011, comprised 23 information boards at particularly interesting sites around the city, including residential estates. The museum, its city history collection and the urban trail each have a different focus: the collection covers the history of Tychy and Upper Silesia, while the boards were installed at selected sites across the city.

Water Activities and a Look at Silesia

The Wodny Park Tychy has a surfing zone with a surf simulator in a swimming pool. The beer bath zone offers beer infusions as well as baths in one- and two-person tubs. This brings together pool-based surf simulation and bathing experiences with beer infusions as distinct water and wellness themes.

The broader culinary context of Silesia opens up to visitors. The Szlak Kulinarny „Śląskie Smaki“ includes restaurants whose menus feature specialities from Silesian, Beskid, Jurassic and Zagłębie cuisine. Membership requires the „Śląskie Smaki“ certificate, which confirms the quality and regional authenticity of the dishes. This makes it possible to distinguish the local beer history of Browar Obywatelski from the wider diversity of regional cuisines in Silesia.
