Orzesze can be explored through a variety of attractions: the Church of St. Lawrence combines Gothic form with Renaissance architectural details. The municipal area is also home to the Pasieki water complex and a 29 km green cycling route.

Churches, a palace and local traditions

The Church of St. Lawrence in Orzesze was built around 1590; its construction was commissioned by Wawrzyniec Trach and his wife, Anna Maria of the Frankenberg family. Its Gothic form, with Renaissance architectural details, combines two stylistic elements. The construction period, patrons and architecture offer different perspectives on the building.

The Church of the Holy Spirit in Orzesze was built using funds donated by Katarzyna Hegenscheidt of Zawiść. In Orzesze-Mościska, the Szarotki regional group preserves Silesian traditions in a regional heritage room. The churches offer distinct points of interest: the Church of St. Lawrence stands out for its construction period and architecture, while the Church of the Holy Spirit is notable for its founding history.

The palace in Zawiść is a Baroque residence built in the first half of the 18th century. Former manor buildings have been preserved in the palace park. The palace is not open to visitors and can only be viewed from outside, behind a fence. Check local access conditions again before travelling.

The manor and park complex in Gardawice is considered an example of Orzesze’s secular heritage.

Pond landscape and views

At 357.2 m above sea level, Góra św. Wawrzyńca is the highest point in the municipal area. A landscape park is located on this hill. A municipal notice from September 2024 describes a viewpoint on the slope, from which the panorama of Orzesze town centre can be seen.

The three largest ponds in the municipal area of Orzesze form a water complex called Pasieki, connected by numerous dams. It lies on the borders of the Orzesze, Zawiść, Zazdrość and Gardawice districts. The name Pasieki therefore refers to a connected complex rather than just one pond.

Cycling route and getting there

The green cycling route in Mikołów County is 29 km long and runs from Orzesze-Woszczyce, on the border with Żory, to Borowa Wieś in Mikołów, on the border with Ruda Śląska. The 29 km refers to the total route; in the Woszczyce Forest, it runs along sandy paths. As the surface and signage may change, check the route and trail conditions before setting off.

The route description puts Orzesze railway station about 2 km from the cycling route. Treat this distance as approximate and check it, along with the station information, again before travelling.
