Five pointed Gothic portals have survived to this day at the Church of St Martin and St Margaret in Kłobuck. They make the town’s long building history visible in a single structure: the Church of St Martin was built in 1144, founded by Piotr Dunin Włostowic of Skrzynno, and today features Gothic architecture with Baroque elements. Its founding and present-day architectural style thus belong to different historical periods that meet in the same place.

Architecture from Several Periods

The historic urban fabric of Kłobuck is also dated to the 12th to 13th centuries and the 14th century. Another architectural highlight is the palace in the Zagórze district, built in the Neo-Gothic style between 1795 and 1800. Its floor plan is L-shaped, with a polygonal tower at its centre. The church and palace offer different insights into the history of architecture: a Gothic church with Baroque elements on the one hand, and a palace in the Neo-Gothic style on the other.

The Miejski Ośrodek Kultury, which has operated continuously since 1972, is also part of the town’s cultural history. This institutional continuity adds a more recent historical layer to its historic buildings.

Cycling Routes between Town and Nature

Kłobuck’s nature- and forest-focused cycling network includes two routes of 12.7 and 4.5 kilometres. The difference in length provides a practical guide when choosing a route. In the municipality, the 4.5-kilometre route starts in the Dębowa Góra nature reserve and leads to the Zakrzew Reservoir. The 12.7-kilometre route starts at a protected spurge laurel habitat in the Pierzchno forest district, passes through the Zamczysko reserve and also reaches the reservoir. The routes therefore differ not only in length, but also in their starting points and stops along the way.

The Zakrzew Reservoir is located in the municipality. This 10-hectare artificial body of water on the Biała Oksza River is used for recreation in summer. At 67.5 kilometres, the blue Nature Reserves Trail is considerably longer than the two cycling routes. It passes through the Zamczysko and Dębowa Góra reserves; the latter lies within the town limits. The trail extends beyond Kłobuck.

The Green Kłobuck Trail starts at the Church of St Martin. It leads from Kłobuck via Mokrą and Zawady, along the Liswarta River, to Wąsosz. The Nature Reserves Trail also passes the Church of St Martin. Another cycling route, Kłobuck–Przystajń, is described as easy and signposted; it starts in Kłobuck. The routes can therefore be distinguished by their length and course, and—in the case of this route explicitly—by its stated level of difficulty.

Customs and Regional Products

The traditions of the municipality also offer insight into local character. Customs that have been preserved include drowning the Marzanna effigy, decorating the Gaik on Gaik Sunday, and carol singers visiting homes during the Christmas season. The municipal harvest festival includes processions and competitions featuring harvest wreaths made from agricultural produce.

Kłobuck mixed bread is another part of the area’s local food history. In 2010, it was added to the list of traditional products of the Silesian Voivodeship in the baked goods and confectionery category. Together with the traditions passed down through generations, it adds to the picture of Kłobuck and its municipality conveyed by the churches, palace and trails.
