Two distinct themes are central to a stay in Bąków: the Piotr Hansel fish farm, with its fishing pond and on-site facilities, and the local religious history, with churches, chapels and a memorial cross. If you enjoy fishing, you can include the seasonal catfish fishing in your plans. If you are interested in culture, explore the area’s Protestant history, its ties to the congregation in Drogomyśl and the Roman Catholic Church of Divine Mercy.
Fishing and facilities at the Piotr Hansel fish farm
The Piotr Hansel fish farm offers a specific opportunity to fish in Bąków. Its fishing pond is stocked with fish raised on the farm and fed naturally. African catfish can also be caught there in summer, making catfish fishing a seasonal option. The fish farm sells carp, African catfish, grass carp, trout, pike and silver carp throughout the year; check in advance whether sales are currently available. Fishing equipment can be rented on site, and bait can be purchased. There is also a bar on the grounds serving drinks and meals; barbecuing is permitted, and children can use a playground. A pier has also been built at one of the ponds. Before your visit, check with the fish farm on the current availability of fishing equipment rental, bait, the bar and playground, access to the pier, and applicable barbecue rules.
Local religious history: Bąków and Drogomyśl
The Protestant House of Prayer belongs to the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession congregation in Drogomyśl. The historical connection between Bąków’s Protestant residents and the church in Drogomyśl is reflected in the milestones of their lives: they had their children baptized there, received religious instruction, took their confirmation vows, married and buried their relatives. The House of Prayer contains a sandstone altar with carved elements depicting the history of Christianity. A larger stone in the center recalls the large stone that sealed Christ’s tomb.
The first Sunday school meetings in Bąków took place in 1954. The House of Prayer was solemnly inaugurated on June 13, 2004. In the past, the house also hosted occasional gatherings, activities for children and a children’s choir. Bąków is also home to the Roman Catholic Church of Divine Mercy. These historical connections represent the area’s distinct religious traditions: the Protestant House of Prayer and the Catholic church on the one hand, and the Protestant life history closely linked to Drogomyśl on the other.
Chapels, crosses and a memorial site
The smaller religious landmarks are also tied to specific locations. Bąków has several chapels and crosses. Chapels are located on the Gandzel family’s property, in the Michalik family’s field, and near the Staniek and Wawrzyczek families. A memorial cross from the Second World War, bearing the inscription “Ku pamięci poległym tu żołnierzom,” stands between the former course of the Młynka and the present-day Knajka. The Polish inscription means “In memory of the soldiers who fell here.”
