Czechowice-Dziedzice offers two ways to shape your stay around your interests: parks and cycling, or city and industrial history. If you enjoy spending time outdoors, you can consider parks and a range of cycling routes. If you prefer historical topics, you’ll find connections ranging from railways and mining to regional history.

Parks and Cycling

At eight hectares, Szwajcarska Dolina Park is the largest recreation and leisure complex in Czechowice-Dziedzice. Park na Północy covers 3.6 hectares and is located in the northern part of the city, by Polna, Baczyńskiego and Morcinka streets. By area, Szwajcarska Dolina is more than twice as large; Park na Północy can be identified by its location within the city. Their size and location give you different points of reference when deciding which park to focus on.

The city park “Lasek” has its own history: the owners of the “Schodnica” refinery established it in the second half of the 1890s. They made use of the old-growth trees of Dolny Las “Goju,” which consisted mostly of oaks. The park is also home to the “Ptasi Zegar” installation. Lasek therefore brings together the park’s history and a named design feature.

Different Cycling Routes

In the northern part of Szwajcarska Dolina Park, there is an approximately 900-metre-long MTB trail for beginner and intermediate cyclists. Check local conditions before riding. Cycling Route No. 17 offers a different approach: it runs along city streets with shared pedestrian and cycling paths, as well as scenic side roads.

The two cycling options can be distinguished by different features. The MTB trail has a stated approximate length and skill level, while the streets and paths described determine the course of Route No. 17. Consider which details are more important for your plans: a short MTB trail in a park with a specified skill level, or a cycling route along city streets and side roads. The description of Route No. 17 includes both types of section.

Engineering, Mining and City History

The locomotive workshop was built in 1853–1854 and is closely associated with the establishment of the railway junction in Dziedzice. It is considered a valuable technical monument. On Górnicza Street, the miners’ settlement offers a different historical connection: it was built in 1903 for miners from the “Silesia” hard coal mine and arranged in five rows, known as “rajach.”

St. Catherine’s Parish Church is considered the oldest and most valuable monument in the city. The Regional Room also offers a way to explore the history of the city and region: it collects and preserves historical objects and makes them available to residents, students and visitors. These topics differ considerably, ranging from railway-related engineering and the miners’ settlement to the religious monument and the historical objects in the Regional Room.

Choose a Focus for Your Stay

When looking for a hotel in Czechowice-Dziedzice, it helps to decide which interests matter most. Would you rather focus on parks and cycling, or are you mainly interested in engineering, mining and other historical topics? The park areas, the different descriptions of the cycling routes and the specific examples of the city’s history offer several points of comparison. This can help you first decide which side of the city will give your stay the focus you want.
