Zamostne combines historic details of the village and open countryside with a kayaking stretch on the Reda. Along Wejherowska Street, several features point to earlier uses and architectural connections; from there, the view also takes in Kniewo. On the water, a 22-kilometre route runs from Zamostne to Reda. When planning, it is worth distinguishing the village’s history and landscape from the physical demands of the full route.

Village history along Wejherowska Street

An Evangelical cemetery is located on Wejherowska Street. A manor house, part of a manor farm complex, also stands on this street. A butcher’s shop once operated at number 34; the building is now a residence. A dairy is recorded on plot 128 on Wejherowska Street, and a chimney stands on the same plot. A post office once operated on plot 129; this building is also now a residence.

The former uses as a butcher’s shop and post office contrast with the buildings’ present-day use as residences. The manor house points to the architectural connection of a manor farm complex, while the cemetery, dairy and chimney provide further, varied links to the village. Two archaeological hillforts, each with its own landform, add another perspective. Their visible traces in the terrain differ from the buildings along the street and add an archaeological dimension to the village’s history.

Countryside between Zamostne and Kniewo

From Wejherowska Street, the view takes in the open countryside and the village of Kniewo. A lime-tree avenue also runs between Zamostne and Kniewo. These are two distinct landscape features: a specific view from the street and a linear feature between the villages. Kniewo is therefore both part of the view described and one end of the avenue.

Kayaking on the Reda: distance and difficulty

The 22-kilometre kayaking stretch runs from Zamostne to Reda. The full route is considered moderately difficult and strenuous; paddling from the starting point in Zamostne is easy and pleasant. When choosing a trip, consider both the pleasant start and the difficulty of the full route. The riverbed is narrower in some places and wider in others. Shallows, bridges and footbridges mean that you will need to carry your kayak. In addition to paddling, there are sections where you must portage the boat. River conditions can vary, so check them before your trip.

Culture in the wider destination of Neustadt

The wider destination of Neustadt includes several other cultural and historical attractions in Wejherowo. Kalwaria Wejherowska was the fourth Calvary complex established during the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. After Bishop Mikołaj Albert Gniewosz of Aleksandrów approved its construction on 9 June 1649, work began on building its chapels.

The Muzeum Piśmiennictwa i Muzyki Kaszubsko-Pomorskiej was founded in 1968. It is a treasure trove of regional artefacts and a centre of Kashubian culture, particularly the Kashubian language. The Książnica prof. Gerarda Labudy features a permanent exhibition on the history of the Kashubians. Models of the city and Kalwaria Wejherowska are displayed in the historic town hall. The wider destination of Neustadt thus brings together a range of perspectives: the history of the Calvary complex, regional culture and language, and models of the city and landscape.

The Szlak Nut Kaszubskich, marked by fifteen pedestals, forms a route through different parts of the city, passing the main sights. The pedestals bear fragments of a traditional counting-out rhyme. The Muzeum Piaśnickie offers another historical perspective: its permanent exhibition spans two floors and commemorates the victims of the Pomeranian crimes through the example of the Piaśnica crime. Relics of the Piaśnica crime are located in the basement.
