Discover Ocypel through a range of travel interests: a marked hiking trail, activities in the forests, summer events and historic details in the village. If you’re looking for a hotel for a stay in Ocypel, first consider which of these interests you want to shape your trip. This will help you plan your time there around specific interests.

Hiking trail and forest activities

The blue section of the Izydora-Gulgowski Trail is 22.4 kilometres long and runs from Kaliska to Ocypel. In Ocypel, it connects to the red Kociewie Lakes Trail, which you can follow south to continue your hike. The stated distance refers to the blue section. For your planning, this gives you both a clearly specified route with start and end points and a described option to continue south.

The forests of Ocypel also offer space for Nordic walking, running and cycling, independently of this route. No special equipment is needed for observing nature. Binoculars, a spotting scope or a magnifying glass can be useful. The forests also have mushrooms; knowledgeable company is recommended when gathering them. Foraged forest produce can be eaten fresh or used in cakes and desserts.

Water-based facilities

As part of the marina investment, a water tourism building, a playground, a fire pit and a car park were built in Ocypel. The pier has designated areas for swimming and for mooring boats, kayaks and pedal boats. The individual facilities have been completed; check their condition locally before your visit.

Summer events

The “Lato na Kociewiu” festival cycle takes place in July and August in Lubichowo, Szteklin and Ocypel. The specific dates can vary from year to year, so it’s worth checking the schedule if you’d like to plan your trip around an event. For summer 2026, the Letni Dom Kultury in Ocypel was planned as a series of summer open-air concerts and artistic events by the lake and in public spaces. Forests and the backdrop of the sunset form part of the setting described; future programmes may change.

“Biegaj w Ocyplu – Leśne Wandry” also has a distinct focus: the sporting event is organised by Stowarzyszenie Przyjaciół Ocypla and has been attracting more and more participants and spectators for years. The programme includes runs for children, young people and adults, recreational distances, and routes for more experienced runners. For a future edition, check the relevant dates and registration details.

Wooden architecture and local history

The wooden buildings of Ocypel are counted among the attractions in the area around Lubichowo. The condition of individual buildings may change. Another trace of the village’s history is the Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary: it is a reconstruction of a chapel destroyed by the Germans in 1943. It was built based on the pre-war chapel and a surviving photograph. On 3 May 2004, Father Alfons Fonfara consecrated the chapel; he was the parish priest of Matki Bożej Królowej in Ocypel.

At Ocypel railway station, in a shady corner of a siding, stands a forgotten pre-war German Pullman railway carriage. Together with the reconstructed chapel and the wooden buildings, this detail reveals a different side of the village from its forest and water-related attractions.
