The Jastarnia Lighthouse was built in 1938, is 13.3 meters tall and has a conical roof. Important for your plans: the tower is currently not open to visitors. Check the latest information before visiting, as access may change.

Church and Fishing Architecture

The neo-Baroque fishing church Kościół pw. Nawiedzenia Najświętszej Maryi Panny was built in the 1930s and is considered an outstanding architectural monument of the town. Its interior is decorated in shades of blue and celadon. The boat-shaped pulpit is particularly striking, seeming to be carried by choppy sea waves. Every summer, the church hosts organ concerts featuring renowned organists from Poland and abroad. Specific dates may vary; if a concert is important to your trip, check the latest dates in advance.

The fishermen’s buildings are also part of Jastarnia’s character. The “Chata Rybacka” Museum is an authentic, rectangular fishermen’s cottage dating from 1881. A walk through the narrow streets among former fishermen’s cottages is considered a special visitor experience. In Jastarnia, visitors can see both a single historic building and the townscape, with its preserved fishermen’s houses.

Fortifications and Their Structures

The Skansen Fortyfikacji open-air fortifications museum has been located on the grounds of the Ośrodek Oporu Jastarnia since 2005. Its four main defensive bunkers are “Sokół,” “Sabała,” “Saragossa” and “Sęp”; there are also light defensive structures. The interior of the “Sabała” museum bunker can be visited in spring and summer. If you plan to visit this part of the complex, take the stated season into account.

Another distinctive feature of the “Jastarnia” anti-aircraft battery is its most striking surviving structure: a reinforced-concrete fire-control tower on the dune crest at the entrance to beach number 54. The fortifications thus offer different types of structures, from defensive bunkers to a fire-control tower.

Harbor and Bay

The port of Jastarnia was built between 1926 and 1931 and serves fishing, sailing, passenger transport and tourism. It was also the first facility in Poland where yacht captains were trained. The pier at the harbor invites visitors to stroll and relax throughout the season; it also offers a viewpoint over Puck Bay.

Local fishermen offer trips on the bay in traditional fishing boats. If you would like to include a trip in your plans, ask in advance about current departure options. This lets you make time for the outing on the water without assuming a fixed schedule.

Conditions vary by season: organ concerts take place every summer, the interior of “Sabała” can be visited in spring and summer, and the pier is open for strolling and relaxation throughout the season. Concert dates may vary. The sites and structures also offer different points of interest: church architecture and music, fishermen’s buildings, the history of the fortifications, or activities around the harbor and bay. You can take into account which of these you would like to shape your trip when choosing where to stay.
