Geographically, Stegna is part of the Mierzeja Wiślana, or Vistula Spit. For a trip combining the coast and culture, the town offers a variety of attractions: two designated seaside bathing areas, the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus with its architectural history and organ, an amber museum, and cycling route sections with nature themes. You can plan your stay around whichever interests you most: the coastal area, architecture, music, collections or outdoor activities.
Coast: two designated seaside bathing areas
Stegna I bathing area is at access point No. 69 on Lipowa Street. The section extends 100 m along the coast in the direction of Sztutowo; its designated area measures 100 m Ă— 50 m. Stegna II is at access point No. 67 on Morska Street. There, the coastal stretch is 200 m, also in the direction of Sztutowo; the designated area measures 200 m Ă— 50 m. Along the coast, Stegna II is therefore twice as long as Stegna I; the second measurement is 50 m for both. The different street access points, coastal lengths and area measurements help you compare the two areas using specific features. If you want to head to a particular section, check the current access situation before your visit.
Church, organ and summer concerts
The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was built from 1681 to 1683 using a half-timbered construction method typical of Pomerania. Its pneumatic organ dates from 1914 and has 32 stops, making it significantly later than the church building. Every summer, concerts are held there as part of the International Organ Festival. The concerts provide a seasonal cultural highlight: if a concert is a key factor in your trip, check the programme for the relevant summer season. The construction and organ also offer independent historical points of interest.
Amber at the Bursztynowa Komnata Museum
The Bursztynowa Komnata Museum in Stegna displays amber specimens and inclusions from the private collection of its owner, Wojciech Głodzik. Inclusions are materials trapped in amber. The collection therefore focuses both on the material itself and on the elements enclosed within it. For travellers interested in collections, this offers a different focus from the church’s architectural history and music.
Cycling and nature themes
The cycling route section from Mikoszewo via Stegna to the boundary between the municipalities of Stegna and Sztutowo, near the Stutthof Museum, is 14.82 km long. This length refers to the named route section, not just the part in Stegna. In Stegna, there is an information board along the cycling route about an oxbow lake with water ferns. An oxbow lake is a former river channel; water ferns are aquatic ferns. The board thus connects a type of water feature with a plant group and a specific nature theme. The Mikoszewo–Piaski cycling route passes through Stegna; there is woodland along the route. Cycling plans can therefore take in both a named route section and nature themes along the way.
