Nowa Cerkiew offers a clear choice between two travel interests: parish history and rural architectural heritage shape the cultural perspective, while a municipal cycling route offers a concrete connection to tour planning. When looking for a holiday apartment, this overview can help you decide in advance what kind of stay you want. The church, cemetery, arcaded house and farmstead provide tangible points of reference for the village’s history; for cyclists, an assessment of the terrain along one section of the route is an additional consideration.

Church and Cemetery

The parish church in Nowa Cerkiew is dedicated to Saint Martin, the bishop. The Roman Catholic cemetery by the church dates from 1366. This date refers to the cemetery, not the church building; the dedication, by contrast, identifies the church’s patron saint. As of 31 December 2025, St Martin’s Church and the church cemetery are listed as two separate objects under heritage register entry A-1234. This clearly distinguishes the two historical details: a specific year for the cemetery and a dedication for the church.

Arcaded House and Farmstead

Another cultural heritage site is the arcaded house at Nowa Cerkiew 12/13. It was built in 1820 and is a half-timbered building. As of 31 December 2025, it is listed in the heritage register under number 610. The current address, 28/29, formerly no. 17, refers instead to a registered farmstead with a house and barn. The farmstead’s house is also a half-timbered building. Half-timbering is therefore found in two houses, but the farmstead includes the barn as well; the construction method refers only to the house. The former number 17 remains a clue to the property’s history; 1820 dates only the arcaded house.

Cycling Route and Architectural Heritage

The municipal cycling route runs from Ostaszewo to Nowa Cerkiew. The section between the two places is considered easy because of the flat terrain of the Żuławy lowlands. This assessment of the terrain gives cyclists a concrete point of reference when choosing a route. At the same time, the traditional arcaded houses of the lowlands in Nowa Cerkiew are particularly highlighted along the Vistula Cycling Route, also known as EuroVelo 9. For planning, the routes offer different kinds of information: the municipal section is described in terms of its terrain, while the Vistula Cycling Route highlights the traditional arcaded houses as an architectural point of interest.

Plan Your Stay

When choosing accommodation in Nowa Cerkiew, it helps to first decide what you want to focus on during your trip. For a cultural visit, the parish church, cemetery and different architectural styles take centre stage; if you plan to cycle, you can take into account the municipal route and its terrain, which is described as easy. If both interests matter to you, they can complement one another as themes for your stay, without requiring a fixed itinerary. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, compare the specific options with your personal requirements.
