The lakes Miemino and Czarne, Cycle Route 12 and the memorial site established in 2024 showcase different aspects of Łyśniewo Sierakowickie. When planning a stay, you can choose between the landscape, specific route options and local history. Local points of interest range from a tourist route with an educational trail and a named cycle route to the “Miejsce Pamięci” in the town centre and the history of a watermill. You can focus on the landscape, outdoor activities or historical topics.

Lakes and landscape

A tourist route with an educational trail has been established at lakes Miemino and Czarne in Łyśniewo and Załakowo. Miemino is located within the area of the villages of Łyśniewo and Załakowo; both lakes lie within the Gowidliński Protected Landscape Area. Here, different points of reference come together: the educational trail highlights the route’s educational aspect, while the name of the protected area identifies the lakes’ landscape designation. If you are planning the landscape part of your stay, you can use the two lakes and the name of the protected area as your guide.

Tourist route and cycle route

The tourist route in Łyśniewo includes a bitumen-surfaced path for walking and driving that is more than two kilometres long. It also features recreation areas, fishing spots and bivouac sites, as well as outlets selling local products. These details describe different features: the path is designated for walking and driving, while the recreation and bivouac sites, fishing spots and outlets refer to other uses. When planning, you can therefore decide whether to focus on the route, recreation and bivouacking, fishing or local products. The length of more than two kilometres refers to the surfaced path for walking and driving.

Cycle Route 12 offers a different point of reference from the tourist route: it follows the Bukowina through Załakowo and Łyśniewo. Unlike the tourist route, described in terms of its surfaced path and the facilities along it, Cycle Route 12 is characterised by its course. This is a practical difference when choosing a route: for Cycle Route 12, its number and course are the key details; for the tourist route, the path and its additional facilities are the main features.

Memorial site and mill history

The “Miejsce Pamięci” (memorial site) was established in the centre of Łyśniewo in 2024. It includes a bell tower commemorating the victims of the Second World War and two tourist and historical information boards. Two mill wheels were also installed in the town centre, next to the memorial site. The bell tower and the boards give the memorial site a clear historical connection and place it in the centre of the village.

The history of the watermill goes back a long way: a single-wheel watermill operated in Łyśniewo for more than 500 years, at least as early as 1437. It was rebuilt after the destruction caused by the Swedes. In terms of chronology, the memorial site established in 2024 sits alongside a mill history spanning more than five centuries. This offers two different ways to explore the history of the village: a specific memorial site and the long history of a single-wheel watermill.
