Two routes stand out for planning a trip around Wiezyca: the “Szlakiem Hutniczym” cycling route starts at Wieżyca railway station. The black “Szlak Wzgórz Szymbarskich” runs from Borcz through several places to Wiezyca and on to Szymbark; the climb to the summit of Wieżyca is also along this route. The routes offer different points of reference: for the cycling route, these are mainly the surface and trail markings; for the black route, they are the sequence of places and the climb to the summit. This allows you to plan your stay around specific routes rather than a simple list of places to visit.

Route length and course

The cycling route is listed as approximately 28 km long; the black route is listed as 21.3 km. It runs from Borcz via Trątkownica, Wyczechowo, Nowy Dwór, Sławki and Rąty to Wieżyca and on to Szymbark. The two distances refer to different routes and do not indicate how long they take. When planning, you should therefore consider more than just the kilometres side by side: the starting point, direction of travel and trail conditions are different points of reference for each route. The sequence of places helps put the stated distance in context geographically, rather than treating it as an isolated figure. Based on the stated figures, the cycling route is approximately 6.7 km longer; since its length is given only as approximately 28 km, this difference is also an estimate.

Cycling route and navigation

The cycling route includes narrow asphalt sections as well as numerous gravel and field tracks. Distance is therefore only one part of the planning; the surface is also a factor to consider, particularly when choosing between the cycling route and the black route. At all major junctions, information boards with a map, along with signs bearing a bicycle symbol, a green stripe and the words “Szlak hutniczy,” mark the route. Using a GPX track is also recommended. As the route may change, check the current course and markings before relying on them for navigation.

The Black Szlak Wzgórz Szymbarskich

Near Wieżyca railway station, the black route crosses the railway tracks and then leads into the forest. This route may also change; check its current course before your trip.

The climb to the summit of Wieżyca initially follows an asphalt section and a field track towards Rybaki. It then continues along a narrow forest path over the deep ravine of a stream to the summit. The difference is not just in the kilometres: the climb to the summit switches from a field track to a narrow forest path, while the cycling route includes narrow asphalt sections as well as numerous gravel and field tracks.
