An early medieval hillfort and a waterside nature trail offer different ways to explore Borzestowo during a stay. The nature trail runs along Lake Wielkie; the hillfort is by Lake Długie. The Łeba adds a canoe route to the area, but it is navigable only when water levels are high.

Nature Trail by Lake Wielkie

Nature Trail II runs along the shore of Lake Wielkie and leads from Miechucino to the hillfort in Borzestowo (Garecznica). It is approximately 3.8 km long. The trail has boardwalks, benches, waste bins, bicycle racks, and information and directional signs. Check the condition of these facilities before your visit. Those looking to combine lakeside scenery with an archaeological destination will find both along the trail.

Hillfort and Rest Shelter by Lake Długie

The early medieval hillfort of Borzestowo is near Borzestowo, by Lake Długie, on the Garczenica rise. Remains of ramparts and a wooden structure were discovered at the hillfort; the wooden structure may have been used as a dwelling. The rise describes the landscape setting, while the ramparts and wooden structure mark the site’s built remains. The rest shelter described in 2025 stands by Lake Długie near Borzestowo, close to the nature trail towards Miechucino; its exterior walls are decorated with Kashubian flowers. Thus, archaeological remains and distinctive Kashubian design offer different cultural points of interest by the same lake.

Łeba: Distinguishing Swimming from Canoeing

The Łeba rises in meadows south of the village of Borzestowo in the Kashubian Lake District. Near Borzestowo, the Łeba canoe route is navigable from Lake Długie when water levels are high. After the access point at Lake Długie comes a 2.5 km stretch that is rocky and fast-flowing; conditions vary with the water level. Check the water level before planning a canoe trip. Borzestowo also has an unguarded bathing area; check seasonal conditions before swimming. Swimming and paddling involve different planning considerations: at the bathing area, bear in mind that there is no lifeguard and check the season, while on the canoe route, consider the water level and the character of the river stretch.

More Trails and the Droga Kaszubska

The Szlak Wzgórz Szymbarskich hiking trail returns at Borzestowo–wybudowanie and continues through the Mirachowskie Forests. An extension of the Droga Kaszubska runs through Borzestowo and Miechucino. The scenic route has several variants; signs for individual sections may change. Check your chosen variant and the signage before setting off. The route types differ in their planning considerations: the nature trail has an approximate length of 3.8 km; for the canoe route, water levels and the rocky, fast-flowing stretch that follows are key; and for the Droga Kaszubska, the variant and signage matter. This makes it possible to compare the waterside nature trail, the hiking trail through the Mirachowskie Forests, and the road route based on the features specified for each.
