Discover Żukczyn from three different perspectives: the Kłodawa flows through the village, linking the upland with the Żuławy lowlands; archaeological traces represent several periods; and at the Mini Zoo, visitors can ask the zookeepers questions and learn about the animals. You can give your trip a focus on the landscape, local history or animals. One accommodation with its own historical connection is Dom Młynarza, a guesthouse in historic mill buildings dating from 1925.

River landscapes and local history

The Kłodawa flows through Żukczyn, linking the upland with the Żuławy lowlands. The river is therefore a geographical landmark for the village and connects two different types of landscape. For your plans, this offers a different perspective from the archaeological traces: here, the focus is on the relationship between the landscapes; there, on the history of earlier settlement and land use.

There are four archaeological sites in the Żukczyn area, including settlements and a burial ground from the Iron Age. There are also 17 sites dating from the period of Roman influence. The periods represented therefore differ: the settlements and burial ground belong to the Iron Age, while the other sites date from the period of Roman influence.

The Żukczyn archaeological settlement, site 14, is listed in the Polish register of monuments and the monument inventory. In 1583, a watermill for grinding grain stood on the monastic estate in Wielki Żukczyn. The historical references thus range from archaeological periods to a specific record of a mill dated to the 16th century. If you are interested in local history, you will find both evidence of earlier settlements and information about the use of a mill.

Mini Zoo: Get to know the animals

At the Mini Zoo, you can ask the zookeepers questions and learn about the animals. Visitors can also find out more about their habits, needs and diet. This gives the visit its own educational focus, ranging from questions for the zookeepers to basic information about the animals’ diets and needs.

Pony rides for children are offered daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; you can also have a souvenir photo taken. In 2026, the Mini Zoo was open Thursday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. No reservation was required. These opening hours refer specifically to 2026; check the current operating information and pony ride times before your visit.
