Those who choose Sucha Wieś for the Rospuda will find two different ways to enjoy outdoor activities: kayaking on the river and the red-marked, 21.2-kilometre “Do Św. Miejsca” route, which passes through the village. One specific place to stay is the Przystanek Rospuda agritourism farm in Sucha Wieś. The village is part of the Raczki municipality, in Suwałki County, Podlaskie Voivodeship.

Where to stay in Sucha Wieś

Przystanek Rospuda has five guest rooms, each described as accommodating three or four people. Every room has a private bathroom with a toilet and shower, as well as garden views. The property has a children’s playground with a trampoline and swings, and a covered fire pit with a campfire area. A sauna is also among the available facilities; check its availability before your trip.

The farm serves breakfast and dinner made with products from the farm. You should also ask about meal availability before you arrive.

There are also numerous cycling routes around Przystanek Rospuda. This gives you another way to enjoy an active stay on land, alongside activities on the water.

Kayaking on the Rospuda

Przystanek Rospuda offers on-site kayak rental and trips on the Rospuda. The farm has single and tandem kayaks and organizes group trips for up to 60 people. There are six kayak routes to choose from, with trips ranging from 15 to 22 kilometres. The kayaking routes on the Rospuda cover a total of 67 kilometres. Check trip and service details directly with the farm before your journey.

The Rospuda flows through a chain of glacial lakes and in places resembles a mountain stream. Some stretches are considered suitable for families with children, while others are suited to experienced kayakers. This distinction applies to sections of the river, not necessarily to every trip as a whole. If you are planning a trip, check the particular stretch and the route it belongs to.

The “Do Św. Miejsca” route

The red “Do Św. Miejsca” route is 21.2 kilometres long and passes through Sucha Wieś. Its historic landmarks include Święte Miejsce, a site on the Rospuda with a wooden chapel surrounded by old crosses. Near Dowspuda, the route also passes a First World War cemetery.

The route starts in Dowspuda. There are car parks and bicycle and kayak rental there. At the starting point, you will also find a bar and places to stay; tourist information is available seasonally in July and August. In Dowspuda, you can also see the remains of Ludwik Michał Pac’s Neo-Gothic palace and the romantic park. These features make the starting point a destination in its own right, regardless of which route you choose during your stay.
